Available through the libraries this is also part of her book "Island Knitting". Weighing in at 32 pages this isn't the most comprehensive book but it is a good basic guide. She starts with a history of handknitting, and then a guide to Aran Knitting that suggests that there may be influence from celtic knotwork but admits that a proper history will be difficult. She then has some patterns (and a suggestion of short-row shaping without calling it that). There are then four patterns, suitable for either genderwith a variety of sizes. Tension is worked in stocking stitch in two cases.

The patterns are pretty classical patterns though the pictures are quite dated really. One raglan jumper, two drop sleeve jumpers and one cardigan pattern with alternative finishing (shawl collar or ribbed front bands).

The book finishes with some abbreviations, conversions and needle sizes along with a quick how-to guide.

While the cost of this one online can be quite steep, I've regularly seen it second-hand or in some tourist shops. A good book for basic designs and worthwhile. I've knit one garment from the patterns, the shawl collared cardigan and it's been a good garment. If I was to knit it again I'd probably shorten both the arms and the body to bring it up-to-date.
