The very talented, Pamela Ford, captures the reader's interest with the very first page and the fervor and increases throughout the story until the very last page. Although some of the tale is somewhat predictable, the twists keeps the reader unsure.
This is a fact-based historical account of what many has forgotten, which is the gross mistreatment the Irish immigrants received (along with many other nationalities). With the Great Potato Famine, the Irish people were dying, by tens of thousands and felt in America they could survive. Many perished on the journey or shortly after arriving in the country. I am impressed with the amount of research the author has accomplished before writing this series.
Through this book I learned of a anti-Irish group I had never heard of who called themselves, Know-Nothings - The name alone indicates what a pathetic mindset they must have had.
This amazing story, written brilliantly, only touches on some of the challenges they endured. It is also a story of love, dedication, excruciating work, loyalty, strong values, sacrifice and forgiveness.
The characters are very endearing and the scenes portrayed in a manner, very easily visualized.
I love the Irish folklore an superstitions. They are so intriguing.
The Title is a little confusing to me but it is intriguing. The Cover image is eye catching, yet, the predominant image is also confusing, for it reflects only a brief comment in the whole story.
In spite of the Title an Cover Image, the book was so outstanding, I still offer a Five Stars rating
*This book was gifted me with no suggestion of a positive review. This is my honest review.

To Ride a White Horse begins the Out of Ireland series by Pamela Ford. I had already read the second book, A Rush of White Wings, previously. So, I had the pleasure of learning about some of the characters that were part of this story. I enjoyed that one and I was not at all disappointed with this one. Readers are introduced to Kathleen Deacey in 1846. She and her family are living in devastated Ireland. She is seeking for a new life and find a way to support her family. She, also, wants to get far away from the English as much as possible. They have caused her so much heartache and pain. However, when she is on a ship to cross the ocean to North America, she meets an English captain, Jack Montgomery. The two have undeniable chemistry. I loved Kathleen’s courage to do what is right for herself and was hoping for the best for her. It is a beautiful story that I could not put down.

To Ride a White Horse is getting a very well deserved five plus stars from me. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy historical fiction. I am hoping that there will be a third book from the Out of Ireland series releasing in the near future. I am not ready to say good bye to wonderful these characters.

I received To Ride a White Horse from the publisher. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

Think While You Were Sleeping minus the coma, plus a beach setting and you've got the bare bones of this book.

I'm telling you, I laughed, I gasped, I didn't cry but I did get misty eyed, all while my heart was free to soar with Breanna's search for Mister Right. She and her friends certainly have down pat what they want, but sometimes the unplanned option, the someone you never saw coming is actually the one that's best for you. It was great seeing her catch her breath in the middle of the hubbub. It was wonderful to see her realize the truth among the lies before it was truly too late. It was HI-larious when she gave Grandma the "back up" present at her birthday celebration and everyone assumed it was something else entirely than what it was....Ha ha HA. Listening to her get a bit loose lipped after some fine wine and spilling the beans about her and Ethan's wonderfully romantic relationship, just added to the feels and allowed us to indulge our own "the one" fantasies. Bree's friends were a great pair as well, equally supportive and able to call her out on bad decisions, but the family Caruso really stole the slot for next favorite character with their closeness and desire to see each other happy...of course, the brothers being not so hard on the eyes and a soft touch to the heart, didn't do any harm either. They were just a great bunch and really made the story THAT much better.

To conclude, if you like Romantic Comedies, this is definitely a book for you. The characters are likable, the story just plausible enough, and the ending, something to remember. I will say this, though I've not read the first in the series, I didn't feel as if I was missing out on anything...something that can't be said for every series....

This book drew me in immediately and I did not want to put it down. It's a beautiful story of a young woman who leaves the home she loves in order find a better life away from the potato famine facing Ireland and try to find her fiance, the man she's loved since childhood. When she's shipwrecked and rescued by an English whaling captain who has no use for a woman on his ship, her plans to work send money home are delayed she fears even more for her family. When she starts to realize she has feelings for the captain - feelings she never had for her fiance - she begins a real struggle toward true self discovery and pure love.… (mais)
