Homicide Commander Lieutenant John Driscoll teams up with Sergeant Margaret Aligante and Detective Cedric Thomlinson to chase down the sociopathic killer, Tilden.

Readers quickly learn that Tilden wears Grateful Dead T-Shirts and presents lurid details of his horrific crimes which people presume are in jest.

There are many things to consider in this read. As the story twists and turns, readers absorb the health effects of abuse and long-term pesticide exposure along with memories of religious slayings.

I received this book from Anna Sacca, Senior Publicity Manager with FSB Associates.

When I first started reading about the crimes perpetrated by Tilden, a sociopathic, sadistic serial killer I thought this had to be one of the most savage, brutal deaths ever thought up. There can’t be many ways that would be worse to die than being embalmed while alive. This serial killer wears more than one hat, and each victim is killed a different and brutal way. On his trail is Lieutenant Driscoll, a battle hardened detective who has encountered savage serial killers before. I didn’t read book one, so I can’t say if this one holds up, but I can say this one holds it own and is fairly entertaining. It did sag just a bit in the middle, but it had a strong start and a strong finish. Thank you to Netgalley for the copy in exchange for an honest review.… (mais)

I read this book in 1 day. I was hooked. Everyone was a key character in this book as well as strong. I did not feel like the police were weaker then the killer. It was a true cate and mouse intensity pace story.

I can take and have read a lot of gritty murder mystery/suspense novels but I have to tell you that some of the scenes were hard core. I even felt my stomach on one scene. Yet. I recommend this book to readers who don't have a weak stomach and are looking for a great book to read. This one will cure your reading slump!… (mais)

This book started with promise but, the more I read, the worse it got. These are some of the problems I had with it:

The relationship between John Driscoll and his partner, Margaret, felt more like a business transaction than a romance. The conversations were stilted, forced and emotionless. Margaret risked her career to pursue John, who is her boss. This supposed tough female cop suddenly behaved like a lovesick teen around him, despite the fact that they'd been working together for years.

The part Moira, a fourteen-year-old girl, played in solving the case is beyond ridiculous. The professional police task force seemed more like a bunch of amateur sleuths. They needed a teenager to direct them through the Internet and were slow in responding to or investigating obvious leads.

The Internet plays a large role in the murders, yet the author treats this vast space as if it's a corner cafe.

The book has occasional high points but I had to sift through a lot of nonsense to find them.
