Enjoyed the story- a lot of language though. it was easy to visualize the characters since I had watched the TV show, Will Trent. It followed along pretty well.

First Will Trent novel I'd read but I watch the series. I was pulled into this thriller and kept coming back to it. The characters are well done, and the plot was compelling even though it was pretty dark disturbing subject.
It was interesting to compare to the series. The characters although different in descriptions, were very similar in personality to the TV ones and the tone and pace were smilar.

Even though this is the 9th book in the series and I haven't read the first 8, I didn't feel that I was behind or missing anything.

The book starts out with a high-ranking CDC employee being kidnapped in front of her young daughter.

One month later, a hospital is bombed in Atlanta. Will and Sara, a physician, live nearby and went to see if they could assist at a car accident they could hear from Sara's house. Will is an agent with the GBI, Georgia Board of Investigations. While at the scene, they both sense that something isn't right. As Will is retrieving Sara's medical bag from her car, he witnesses her being kidnapped by one of the "victims" of the car accident.

This begins Sara's inclusion into a cult-like group that is setting up for delivering "The Message". She is supposed to be helping out with sick kids within the group but she also sees the CDC specialist and is unsure as to how she fits in with all of this.

Will and the other investigators with the GBI are helping the FBI investigate this group and he goes undercover to get in there and see if he can find Sara and the CDC employee.

I really enjoyed this book but it started out with 4 different versions of the same event - the bombing of the hospital - from 4 different perspectives. Once I got through that part, it made sense. As mentioned, I don't feel as though I need to have read books `1-8 but will probably read future books in this series as well as other books by this author.

First off, if you have not watched the series on Netflix, you should. I caught a pre-release of the first episode and then binged the series when it was released. After I watched it, I knew I had to read the book.
Andy and Laura are living a quiet life in Belle Isle, Georgia. Andy works as a dispatcher and Laura, her mother, is a therapist. It’s Andy’s 31st birthday and they are at a diner when a tragic accident occurs. (Seeing this play out on the screen was OMG!). Afterward, they both ward off an intruder to Laura’s home.
Suddenly, Laura is pushing Andy away and telling her to drive to Carrollton to a specific storage shed but Andy does not know why. Andy soon finds herself on the run but she’s not sure who’s she’s running from. She encounters other people that she thinks may be able to help her.
The book alternates between Andy running and learning some things about her mom’s past and her mom’s story as a wealthy pianist with a domineering father and the man she meets that is involved in a terrorist cult.
