My oldest son! :-)
Hey there A&E! I'm not mad at you! I just really haven't checked my messages since April. I'm from the US, living in Chicago at the moment. How about you?
I notice you and I share no books. Since I've over 1600 books on Librarything I find this surprising. I'd be curious to look over your listings and see what I'm missing. Your "recent activity" includes several books I would like to read.
Spring in VA has been wet and cold, not normal, if there is such a thing as normal anymore.
In spite of VP Gore, I'm certain we are tickleing the beginnings of the end of the current interglacial, an experience never recorded by any civilization. Exciting times ahead!
You had asked about Columbine. I purchased it on an MP3-CD and am about one third of the way through it. My opinion is shaped by the way the narrator handles the material, which is quite well. So far, I have found it fascinating. The writer does a good job reconstructing how things happened. The reader has been introduced to the two troubled boys and many of their victims. You know what is coming but as it unfolds, you hope it could somehow be different. I thought I was somewhat familiar with the event but much was discovered later that shed light on what happened. I haven't gotten into any part of the book that analyzes why things happened the way they did and at this point, because I can't look ahead, I don't know how much of that will be covered. One thing about an audio book: I don't know what sort of pictures or maps were included in the printed book. I see that the author's web site includes more material which I will have to check out. I am sorry I can't be of more help. Jeanne T.
Hi!

All the Debbie S. Miller books are fabulous! She makes a wonderful speaker for the students and interacts so well with them. She did a day in our library with the students that was tremendous.

School has been out since the 21st of May. Our weather has been glorious. It hit in the 70's today -- a rare occasion.

Our internet has been down since last Friday so we went through a little "withdrawal." The phone company came by today and fixed the line so we are back.

re: The Broken H. It was okay. There was a lot of stuff I could pick on but it did draw me in and keep me reading to the end. And I liked that there was a lifetime of friendship between the main characters before they became lovers. I'm new to the genre and haven't read much yet, but it put me in mind of Chris Owens' Bareback, with less conflict.
forgive me. am wondering is you are a real person or a computer generated something? your responses seem very odd.
Hello there,
Yes I'm here, but I wasn't for a while. You seem to be more a collector of friends than a collector of books, but at least that's a hobby which doesn't take up any space in your house unless, of course, you invite all of us over.

Am I correct in guessing that you are doing this more or less professionally in the hope of gettig one of us to publish through you?

How are you?
Hi I sorry for this late response. No, I'm not a writer but a book-lover. Glad to make your aquaintance.
did i posted (sic) any new thing on my blog? if you click on the link you can check yourself in the time it takes to write to me and ask me here. (especially as i don't look in here very often) you can even subscribe to the blog or find out via facebook (feel free to add me as a buddy - Sharon Bakar)

here's the address again : http://thebookaholic.blogspot.com

and yes, i posted 3 times today

hope you visit again soon and look forward to talking to you
Yes I am. I love vampire stories.
i've been really busy with school and stuff.sorry.
Life Is Filled With Possibilities
by: Larry S. Chengges

life is filled with possibilities
that challenge us each day
to take a chance, try something new,
see things a different way.
And it's through these special moments
that we learn to change and grow,
to explore the precious gift
to who we are and what we know.
Unless you take a chance or two,
in order to begin...
there's nothing we can hope to gain,
no prize that we can win.
For it's not until we try
that we find out
what we can do...
so don't wait until tomorrow
to discover something new!
It is FABULOUS. It is the one book I truly coveted and was thrilled when a friend sold me her practically brand-new copy for $20.00. I highly recommend it!
Thank you. Have a great day too!
Hi!
sorry for the 2 month delayed response...
But no, I am not a writer. I just read a ton and wish I could write as well as my favorite authors.
I'm guessing you're a writer?
Thanks, I am a teacher and this is part of my classroom library. I also have a collection of professional books and one of cooking/baking that I have not cataloged yet. I am going to put this out there because I recently discovered it and I want to spread the word and it might help me in the end. I found a site called Donorschoose where citizens can donate funds to individual public school teachers' projects for materials and experiences for their students. Check it out and send it on if you think it is worth while. This is my project, School Supplies For

Hi! In fiction, I tend to prefer either actual 19th century novels or historical fiction - I tend not to read novels with contemporary settings, although that might just be a phase :-) I also really enjoy detective fiction and the humorous novels of PG Wodehouse when I can't concentrate on anything too heavy :-) I also like reading biographies, particularly of authors and artists. I'm quite open-minded and will read anything that takes my fancy. I'm not keen on very genred writing, i.e. hardcore sci-fi, chicklit or romance novels :-)
Thanks!
(:
Negitive, I'm no writer but a commited reader. Why do you ask?
Best to you,

Actually, this is just the library for my student house at Smith College.
Hi,
Why should I be away? I have a beautiful garden and lots of books to read, so ....
Yours, robhz
Hi, I have noticed you on quite a few sites asking for people's names and if they are authors. Usually people will put their names on their profile if they want others to know their name. They have that option. Some folks prefer to keep it private I think. Also, I think you will find that if you begin to catalogue your library you will get a better response. This site is for cataloguing your books, and conversing with others about what they are reading and possibly suggesting some authors. Anyway, good luck and if there is any way I can help let me know. MB
Hi,
thanks - glad you like it! It's still work in progress as I've yet only partially remembered my readings of the last 20 years and also try to add anything new that catches my attention. About half of them I've borrowed at the local library - as long as they got, what I request. There's not enough free space at home and not enough money in my pocket to own them all:-)

Hi! So sorry to be so late in replying to your friend invitation and question. I have been a little remiss in checking out my LT page the last month or so. I am not a published author, no. I do a lot of writing for my job -- I am the minister of adult education for a large church -- but I rarely have the time to put anything into a form useful to anyone but me.
No, just a fan of many writers and a friend of a few. Nice to meet you!!
Yes that's right that's my blog's name :D How do you like Library Thing
so far? Have you checked out the Member Giveaway feature yet?
I am from America, born in Massachusetts. Why do you ask?
Chicago is just beautiful today! Thank you for asking. And I wish you a very happy Easter/Passover season.
Dear Authorsand Experts,As one of the many librarians with LibraryThing,I'd be pleased to answer any library questions- albeit, with a Canadian bias(?)Regards,FicekRichard47
thanks a lot for the kind comment on my page! i'm never sure who reads me and from where so it is really nice to have your feedback.
Thank you, A&E.

I see you have the A&E website. (I'm guessing you run it since you use the same name.) Are you an author, too? Is that site related to the Five Star Publishing?
Thank you. I bet you say that to all the boys - LOL
Hello,

I've just returned from a trip, so I apologize for the delay in my response.

No, I am not an author; I just have an avid interest in the presidency and an appreciation for fine literature.
Well, my name is Huizinga and I like books. So it is a kind of pseudonym.
I am not a writer, just a collector of good books.
No, I am a teacher
Hi, I just now saw your question. I don't know librarything very well yet; have just been cataloging books whenever possible. I think you introduced yourself on March 28 and asked what kind of writing I do(I am. Name's Mary. Nice to meet you. What kind of writing do you do?). Were you asking me or somebody else? I'm confused because I see that somebody else answered your question (Hello and welcome to Library Thing. In answer to your question-no I am not a writer though that has always been a fantasy of mine, second to owning a used bookstore someday. There is a lot to do at Library Thing. Check out the groups; there is one for just about every interest. You might also want to check out book blogs.ning.com, book talk.org or book place aka http://morganmandle/books.ning.com for more avenues in finding writers and readers alike. Thanks for the friend invite : D J29x11 Bev). If indeed you were talking to me, nice to meet you too. Yes, I write different things. Am trying to jumpstart a novel I began 9 months ago; also do reviews in small publications in my town, Austin. I've written poetry and short stories; only one published. I have to write a lot at my work, so I get worn out...it's not my favorite kind; I'm a legal assistant. Anyway, I don't know how to describe my novel, but it's in the spirit of Eudora Welty, whose writing mesmerizes me. I read her book The Golden Apples 3 times in a row! What kind of writing do you do?

Hi,

Yes I write too. I look forward to checking out your library when you get some books up. =) What do you write?
I'm not a writer either. Mostly a voracious consumer of books:)
No library--get your feet wet--I'm always writing-the first thing I do when I get up is write--the last thing I do before going to bed is write--I'm always writing to myself to let myself know where I'm going, what I'm doing and what I'm planing to do next--published --no--not something I'd care to do--sorry--
Hi,
welcome to this place and many thanks for the friendship!
No, I'm not a writer, just a dilettant in some topics of interest. A while ago I wrote some short essays and poetry, but just as an exercise in guiding my own thoughts and detecting myself. I use LT mainly to keep track of my readings and books I've just detected and added on the to do list. So many books and not much time. I guess you know this yourself:-)

So, first of all: have fun here!
Greetings

Hi. Welcome to LibraryThing. Yes, I have been a published, paid writer in the past: magazine articles and short stories. I am currently devoting time to raising three kids and have switched to reading vs. writing. Please post some books so I can see what you enjoy reading!
I am also new to the site.
No, I am not a writer. Like most people however, I do dabble in the literary arts.
What do you write?
No, I am not a writer.
I write but only have one published work and it was many years ago in a devotional type book. Nothing to write home about =)
Yes, I am a writer. I haven't pursued getting anything published, but I am working on my fifth novel.
Hi, and Welcome!

I hope to see your library soon. That is the purpose of this site. I'd love seeing what books we may have in common. Or what might be interesting that I don't have.

If you've looked at my library, you probably noticed that I have quite a few on writing. I'm more of a wannabe than an actual writer, though. I write some poetry and am currently working on rewriting a novel, but I procrastinate more than write. That's my biggest problem. Kinda sad, since I'm really not a bad writer at all, and I get these really great ideas. But that's what makes the difference between the wannabes and the real writers.

You don't give your name, so I have no idea if I have read anything by you. (Unless you are Morag Campbell, in which case, I haven't.)
I'm learning how to be an author. I'm trying to write a book now.

Thanks.
Hmm, very empty library... Just an FYI, this is a community site and people are very wary of self-promotion unless you're an active participant. Please join in the conversations around the site - there's a great group of people around here!
No, I'm not a writer, just a voracious reader and book blogger. I'm looking forward to seeing your library grow. It's a little sparse right now. ;-)
No, I'm not a writer. Odd as it may seem considering my hobby I believe there are too many books. And you, what are you?
I see a link to your Web site and nothing much else—no library yet, or any signs of activity except your inquiry for active writers. With all due respect, are you going to really participate in the LibraryThing community, or is it all about your authorsandexperts service?

Cheers,
Jay
No, at least not yet. I have several "novels in my head" but I've never begun the process. Right now I'm just using library thing to catalog my medieval library that I keep for my medieval re-enactment group. You?
there is a make private box right next to the post comment box and that makes it private so only you and the person you sent it to can read it! but if you don't make it private the whole world can read it!
I greatly enjoy writing. However, I am a 5th grade teacher with a passion for books (many genre). This year I am teaching math, science and social studies. My teaching partner is teaching all the language arts. It gives me a little free time to do some writing, but not for publication.
I am a starting writer. I have been doing it all my life, but I've recently gotten the courage to start submitting my works.
I am more of a reader. ;) What do you write?
Hi (: Why no library?
Hello,

I am not a writer, I'm a teacher. That's why I have so many children's books. I can't wait to see your library grow.

zjeszay
Welcome!
Not quite yet... I have a few stories in my head, much like everyone else... but am currently a high school student interested in becoming a librarian science, and the very useful tool that is LibraryThing.
