Sobre mimMy Summer TBR list consists mostly of new books (as of July 1, 2009):
The Lost City of Z
The Accidential Billionaires
NYPD Confidential
The Education of an American Dreamer
The Housing Boom and Bust
I'll start there and let you know what else I add.
Sobre a minha bibliotecaMostly modern-day fiction. I'm trying to read more of the classics and more non-fiction. I try to find books with characters who interest me (both in fiction and nonfiction). I often ask, "Is this someone with whom I would want to have coffee?"
But what I am starting to value the most in a book is how thought-provoking the book is (both writing style and topic). Of course, I enjoy those light, easy, mindless reads once in a while to escape realty. Lately, however, I'm drawn to more powerful, moving books.

Mark and I have been discussing the possibility of another group read in November and want your input. We have narrowed it down to two books at this point. "The People of the Book" by Geraldine Brooks and "The Thirteenth Tale" by Diane Setterfield. So chat it up with friends or us and let us know if you are up for it and what you think. Probably the same plan as with "Pillars of the Earth" which seemed to work out perfectly for almost all of us.
Think it over and give one of us a shout.
hugs and looking forward to hearing from you,
belva

Thanks for the info about the Decatur Book Festival. Hopefully I'll be able to go next year.
Today I accidentally stumbled across a new Writers Series taking place at Ivy Hall in Midtown, not far from where I live (1600 Peachtree). I posted information about Ivy Hall and the five lectures on LibraryThing local. The speakers include Colson Whitehead, Augusten Burroughs and Margaret Atwood, so I'll try to go to all of them if I can. The Ivy Hall events web site is http://www.scad.edu/ivyhall.
Cheers,
Darryl
