The novel is stellar, btw. I've identified so strongly with every character -- railing against their outrageous behavior, while accepting it as the result of their frailty, which I love them for surviving. It's really inspired in me some deep thinking about the roles (and responsibilities) of the lover and the loved, as well as the nature of love and duty and that odd space where they overlap.

Merry Christmas , Seasons Greetings , Happy Hannukah , Joyeux Noel , Happy Kwanzaa , Yuletide Blessings , Peace on Earth and Blessings from Sacred Mother Earth.
May this holiday season inspire one and all to elevate their souls to greater things. May we all sip lifes sweet moments as we celebrate the coming of the New Year for with it comes the hope for a brighter tomorrow.
I thank all who have touched my life this past year , for friendships and acts of kindness are the nectar that nurtures ones spirit and sustains ones soul. Know that your kindness has allowed my inner self to swim in an ocean of light. The singing of your heart has resonated positively with me and inspired me to greet each day with brilliance.
My wish is for the New Year to bring all who read this peace , love and harmony. May you create a path of light where earthly treasures abound and may you awaken to your true purpose as you open your soul to a new world of guiding wisdom. The greatest gift you can give during the holidays is a warm smile , a loving embrace and an outstretched hand. Share those things not only with loved ones but with all humankind and together we can make the New Year one of bliss , beauty and love profound.
Merry Christmas , Seasons Greetings , Happy Hannukah , Joyeux Noel , Happy Kwanzaa , Yuletide Blessings , Peace on Earth and Blessings from Sacred Mother Earth.
Yours in Holiday Spirit

I thought The Jane Austen Book Club was pretty good. It was light reading but I enjoy reading about people reading books. I've never read Jane Austen so it was a nice introduction to her books.
What kind of Social Work did you practice?
I was a nursing home social worker, I worked as a social worker in an adoption agency, and I worked as a casemanager for Community Mental Health. The paperwork at CMH was horrendous. I felt like I had no life. I stayed late every night just so I wouldn't get farther behind (I never got caught up from my first week there). I still have nightmares about it.
I joined a writer's club during that time and my involvement with that group actually intensified my dissatisfaction with social work and my lack of time. I just knew that social work wasn't for me. Of course, that's what I majored in in college. I was trying to be practical - I wish I wouldn't have been.
Only 2 weeks until the release of Tomato Girl. I looked on our computer at work and it is starting to show copies in the various warehouses.
Wahoo! :)
Enjoy it all,
Pam

My MFA is in poetry, which I still write, although I've gotten a fiction bug with the last several years. In answer to your question, I prefer working in workshops -- I'm a solitary worker but a communal reviser. I'm adding your books to my to-read list and am looking forward. I'm also just about to click over to LT'er with dogs, as I recently wore down my husband and convinced him to let me adopt by third dog, a cute Pom named Dewey.

I looked up Tomato Girl in our computer at work. You've gotten some good reviews. I'll be watching for its release and look forward to reading it. The plot sounds great.
I just finished reading Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood (now my husband's reading it) and am currently reading The Jane Austen Book Club. My husband and I are reading 1984 aloud to each other (both of us reading it for the second time).
I have checked out Algonquin Readers Round Table and find that I haven't actually read any books published by Algonquin but I do OWN some. It seems my most frequent answer to the question, "Have you read . . . ?" is "I have it but I haven't read it yet." I'm reading all of the time but I don't read quickly.
Best,
Pam

Thank you for the invite! As you know, I really loved Tomato Girl. I bought Forms of Intercession after reading Tomato Girl and was really moved by your poems. They were both startling and stunning.
Glad to see that you are on librarything! You need to get your author's badge! :)
Have a great day and I hope to hear more from you!!

Thank you for the friends invite . What a lovely way to get to know new people here at LT,
and I am always honored to accept. I see that you live in Virginia. That is my favorite place to be.
My dad lived in Marshall, my daughter went to school at Roanoke.
I loved your book, Tomato Girl. I was so pleased to receive it from Algonquin as an ARC.
Light reading it was not, but good reading it certainly was.
Take care and thanks again for the invite!
