Sobre mimI am a third year English major at the moment, but soon my third year will be over with. I enjoy reading pretty much above all else, and it is almost always been that way. I am not too picky about what I read, I dabble in most genres, but I am not a major romance fan and I find myself only reading historical mysteries. With me, though, it can always change. I really like fantasy novels, though, and have been going through a historical fiction stage. I also am a big fan of photography. The cat in my picture is Atra, my kitten. I found it fitting as he is laying with a book. (Lady of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, one of my favourite authors).

Sobre a minha bibliotecaThis library, when completed, will include both the novels that I currently enjoy, as well as books that I have enjoyed over the years and held on to. There may also be a few wish list items throughout the pages, but it should predominately be the books I actually own or have borrowed and read.

Noticed you liked She's Come Undone, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also about a disturbed young girl's downward spiral and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

"Those of us who climb mountains find joy in reaching the top. However, the climb would not make much sense if there were not things to enjoy on the way up. If we groan and complain, it will be hard to feel joy at the summit. However, if we are able to enjoy each day's journey, it makes all the difference in the world. In the midst of each chore, we can notice the sunset or the unique and beautiful surroundings of each day.

Each of our days is different. Happiness is not a goal we are struggling to reach some time in the future. It is a gift we can give ourselves today. If we enjoy some parts of each day of our hike, we will also feel joy at the summit.

What form will my gift of happiness take today?"

Wow..we have quite a few books in common. Marion Zimmer Bradley is also one of my favorite authors.
Back in Chicago- no more traveling for me for a while, I don't think. Which is kind of depressing, really! How are things with you? How are you enjoying life as a graduate? :-)
Hi Kelly! I'm adding you to my list.
I know! I am trying to get through a lot of the ones I haven't read yet but it's frustrating as I want to re-read some of the ones I have already (Anne Rice for definite). Am reading as fast as I can... WIll search your library properly soon for more ideas :)
We share 176 books at the moment, but I am trying not to buy any more for a good while now...
Hey, I noticed that you and I are personally responsible for about half the book suggestions for Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures, and it's a pretty entertaining and not at all appropriate lot: a few Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys Supermysteries, a couple of Sweet Valley University books, Remembering the Titanic, and The Return of the Plant That Ate Dirty Socks.

And we also share a lot of other good books :)
I can start on The Crimson Petal and the White any time after the first of the year. Yeah...I need to start on The Hummingbird's Daughter too. I just finished up Persuasion for a Classics read...and skipped An Age of Innocence too! Oh well. I also just finished The Alchemist. Interesting book.

Stephanie
I didn't know you and Aarti knew each other!! It's a small, small world. I told her we would have to all read together sometime!

Stephanie....hoping you have a wonderful Christmas, if I don't get a chance to tell you again!
Hey Kelly, thanks for adding me to your blog reads! I feel like I've "arrived" now :-D I would add you to mine as well, except I don't think that's an option on livejournal.

Regarding The Dragonbone Chair- it was a DNF for me. I thought it REALLY dragged. First, I paused on it for a month. And then I read another 100 pages thinking it got good. But then I paused on it again, and I've decided today to chalk it up to "Did not finish."
I was just checking for a TBR tag in your list...didn't see one! So if you just want to pick 6 off mine that we have in common, that works for me! Send me an email (oops, I think I owe you now), or leave me a message on here.

Stephanie :)
Hey Kel! I actually think your idea was GREAT! I have so many books on the TBR, it's scary. It never goes down either....just up!! We should pick all six now...and schedule them. That way maybe we really will get to it! I'll send you an email, and we can see what books we have in common that we haven't read yet!

Stephanie
You know, I have a lot of trouble starting those HUGE books, too! You wouldn't think so as we all read so much, but I guess everyone is intimidated by size. I will let you know if I get back to Dragonbone Chair how I feel about it.

And good luck finding Teresa Edgerton- I think she's worth the effort :-)
Wow, we're up to 153 books now! Have you read The Dragonbone Chair, by Tad Williams? I have to read it for a group by the 12th or thereabouts, but I wasn't able to get too into it when I tried last week. I don't know if it was just my mood or the book itself, though!
Hi Kailana! You were on the top of my most books in common list and I thought I would stop by and say hello. I have enjoyed looking through your catalog. Thanks!
Hey Kelly! What's new with you?? I'm still waiting for the email! I've been sick this week. You'd think I'd have time to read, but really all I wanted to do was sleep!
Stephanie
Thanks for leaving a comment for me !
Sorry , I've only just read it now.
Hi Kailana - thanks for the comment - stay tuned, as I just started adding books! Kim (Magiciansgirl)
Hey Kelly!! Well....I've only listed 48 of my books, and so far you have half of them!! Hopefully, I'll get at least 200 done by the end of the week. Weekend was too busy with other stuff. Happy Halloween!
Stephanie
Yes, we do share a lot! I have you on my watch list :-) But then, me sharing 134 books with you is very different when my library is at 540 and yours is at almost 1,750!
You have an impressive number of books in your library! When I get around to entering in all the books I have borrowed, the number we share will skyrocket!
Hi Kailana

We share 39 books (although I have lots more to list so no doubt there will be more)!! :-))
hello! we share 231 books and seem to have alot in common. i love the picture of your cat.....mine likes to lie under newspapers and he also likes to steal my bookmarks while i am reading. did you like lady of avalon better than the mists of avalon? i usually don't care for fantasy but loved the mists of avalon so much that i am intersted in reading more of bradley's books. also, i love photography and majored in english, so cheers!
Timothy Findley's "Famous Last Words," is a book that haunts me. I'm pleased to see you have it. Esta1923
I really like the picture of your cat with the book. I need to get one of those with my own cats!
I just joined LibraryThing.com recently and have only entered 158 of my books so far, but noticed that we share 57. Looks like you are a Nancy Drew fan too? I was a huge fan as a kid and just started collecting the books again- next up for collecting will be Trixie Belden :)
Wow -- This is my first time at the LibraryThing site. I've only entered 15 books so far (all rated four or five starts; that's all I'm going to bother with), and we share 13 of them! You've got great taste!
Hi! We share 36 books and I've only gotten 76 of my books on so far!! I see that you are a fan of Anita Shreve and Jodi Picoult, too. They are my faves!! Happy reading!!
Hi! We share 17 books, I don't have all of my library up yet so we may share more! :) What I think is fun is that your cat looks exactly like my Penelope! :) I also am quite a huge fan of Philippa Gregory! :)
I'm also going through a rather large historical fiction phase - I noticed we share quite a few Philippa Gregory and Pauline Gedge selections.
