Hi;
Mark and I have been discussing the possibility of another group read in November and want your input. We have narrowed it down to two books at this point. "The People of the Book" by Geraldine Brooks and "The Thirteenth Tale" by Diane Setterfield. So chat it up with friends or us and let us know if you are up for it and what you think. Probably the same plan as with "Pillars of the Earth" which seemed to work out perfectly for almost all of us.
Think it over and give one of us a shout.

Thanks Lynda.
It is really good to be home to hearth, hubby, kids, grands, dog and cats.
School begins here on Monday and the little grandson (6) will be going all day as he has "graduated" to first grade. hee hee. I am looking forward to it as I just have not had the free time to read this summer that I am used to. But we have had a good summer so I won't complain, just looking forward to the quiet and the books.
If I drive the 4 hours, would you have the time to meet me for lunch or tea or something on my next trip down or do you work full time? I would love the opportunity to hook up and meet you. I won't be going back until next spring, or August again or fall. You can think about it and let me know. It was such fun meeting another LTer that I want to meet all my LT friends that I possibly can now.

Hi Lynda;
Just got home from Texas late yesterday and wanted to stop over and say "Hey, how's it going?" I got to meet allcottacre while I was down there as she lives only 2 hours from my daughter. I am not sure what is considered central Texas but am guessing you are a good deal further away from where I was. If not, let me know and perhaps next trip (spring or fall, hopefully), we can hook up as well.
Have you been reading any good books while I was gone? I only read one complete book while at Robbi's. "Battle Cry of Freedom" and it was mesmerizing. She and my friends kept me very busy for all of the 2 weeks. I was able to almost finish another on the flight home.
It was soo good to get home until I got home and found the dishes hadn't been done in 2 weeks; my last coffee cup was still in the sink. But apparently they ate out a lot. But the hubby took awesome care of the grandsons while I was away and of my mother also (and was happy to do it so I could go and spend some time with Robbi) so I didn't say anything about anything. I am just so appreciative that I was able to go and be with her for those two weeks. I got up at 5 A.M. today and cleaned the bathroom and did the dishes. The rest I will catch as catch can, but at least now the bathroom doesn't smell like a latrine and when I want to eat I can find a clean dish. So it's all good.
We went to the Pocket Sandwich Theater while I was there and they were showing a vaudevillian type play in which the actors interact with the audience. Popcorn fights are the rage and we had a blast throwing popcorn at the actors and other patrons and having popcorn rain down upon us as well. I can't wait to go back the next time!~! It was so much fun.
And they have Half Price Books stores all over the Dallas/Ft Worth/Plano/Irving/McKinny area. I think we hit everyone of them and I had to go to the P.O. and ship books home so as not to have to pay the heavy toll to check baggage at the airport. I travel so light. One very small back pack and my purse. That's it. Needless to say I do a lot of laundry while there, but traveling light just works for me.
Missed you and our conversations while I was gone. Can't wait to catch up on your thread and all the others. But I wanted to say hello as I know it will take time to play catch up.

Hi,

I was able to find the movie version of Lady Windemer's Fan. It is called A Good Woman. Rupert Everett is not in it, my bad, and some critics panned it. I remember seeing it on TV and enjoying it, but I may not be remembering all that well.

Have you ever seen Jeeves & Worcester on TV, you didn't say? I wonder if you haven't seen it, or just didn't like it ? If you haven't seen it and you enjoy the books and the Rupert movies, you might want to give this a try. Hugh Laurie as Bertie is nothing like the disgusting House he plays now.

I did enter the author's name as Elliott, Brian S.
You entered that on the author's page as the Canonical Name, but the author's name on your book is still showing just "Elliot, Brian". To change the author of your book, go to the book page and click the Edit link on the left.

If you change the Canonical Name and Legal Name on the Brian Elliot page, you're changing it for every author named Brian Elliot. That's fine if there's only one, but in this case there's more than one and they might have different middle names. If you change it on your book page, you're just changing who the author of that book is.

I didn't. You have entered just "Elliot, Brian" for the author of your book: http://www.librarything.com/work/8174462... There are other authors named Brian Elliot, and their books will all show up together, since LibraryThing creates a page for the author based only on their name. The page http://www.librarything.com/author/ellio... is for all authors named Brian Elliot. If you want your book to appear on a different page, and be linked to a different author, you should enter "Elliot, Brian Scott" in the author field of *your book*, not change the Canonical Name of Brian Elliot to something else (that changes it for all books by all authors named Brian Elliot). You can then enter the correct biographical data for Brian Scott Elliot on his own page. Even then, if someone enters another book by some other author named "Elliot, Brian Scott" it will show up on that page.

(Unfortunately, even after you've changed your book, it can sometimes take the site a few days to get things connected correctly, so the thing to do it change the author and wait a couple days before going to make sure that the book's on the right author's page.)

I'm sorry if I'm not explaining this clearly, if there's anything that doesn't make sense let me know and I'll try again :-).

Damn, I was really hoping you had 12 kids. hehehehe
Well, it is nice to meet you. I have been perusing your library and you have some that I am going to purloin and get from the library.
And down to one cat? How do you do that? (and Edgar Allen Poe, what do you call him?) I have people calling me all the time; "If you don't take this cat it is going to the pound!~! so pleassssssssssse. So I beg my husband and he is really good about it. At one time we were up to 19. We give them all their shots, get them neutered and try to find homes for the ones we CAN give up because by that time we are pretty well attached. The feral ones we have to keep unless we can find someone with barn mice. I think the whole time of our marriage (since 1972) we have "picked' out 2 kittens and those were by and for our daughters. (now 36 and 40) Our son who is now 42 adopted one from a preggers cat we had rescued. Life is just tooooo interesting around here. But good.
But do you see why "reading is my safe place"? It keeps me sane and sometimes my husband says I don't even notice the door, the phone, the dog wanting out, the grandkids wanting my attention, etc. I guess it was really bad when our kids were home. I could totally tune them out. But that's not all bad. We each need a place we can escape to even if it is just pretend. Right???
Well again, nice to meet you and best of luck to your son. I hope he is not in harm's way. I will add him to my prayer list.

Sooooooo Lynda;

I really, really have to ask---"LA12Hernandez"; I am just going to attempt to guess at how you picked your moniker. Your name is Lynda so that is easy, A (Anne or such for your middle name) and Hernandez is your last name. Right: The 2 numbers in between --the 12-- is the number of children you have. Am I right on this or am I right on this? It's a thing I have, this attempting to guess how LTers choose their monikers. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes not.

And on a lighter note--------------WHAT WERE YOU THHINKING??????????????????????

hey, I just read the you read e-books. I am looking into getting a reader, but gosh they are spendy. Would you please let me know how you like e-books. and it you don't mind waht kind of reader you are using and what you do and don't like about it?

Oh I also see that you read Agatha Chrisitie. I have been thinking about reading one or two of her books since they had her as character in an episode of Doctor Who this last season. Do you have a Agatha Christie favorite book?

Hi Lynda, I like your suggestion of using sticky notes to mark your favorite recipes, including adding a list of the special ingredients on the sticky, then using a larger sticky at the front of the cookbook as a mini-table of contents. I plan on going through all my cookbooks for favorite but easy recipes, so will try your idea.

Hi Lynda...saw your post on the 999 Challenge...you have a wonderful mix of books. Like you I enjoy mixing the light with the heavy and adding some audio books in too. I noticed that you have Dante listed in your "Left from Last Year" category. There are several of us who are planning to do "THE INFERNO" as a lenten reading starting on Ash Wednesday, Feb 25th.
