I loved Veil of Roses. Great book!
I am excited about winning a copy of Veil of Roses from you! Can't wait to read it :) {PS: I read several books at once and some do not always make the cut :)- I am a book addict and proud of it}
Thanks, Laura! haha I would have liked it if Bella killed Edward myself...hmm but then who would kill Bella? ;)
Hi, Laura. In terms of my title, I came up with it after a frenzied round of free association. I'm always curious how everyone else does it. Anyway, thanks for saying hi!
I just finished Veil of Roses and I really enjoyed it. It was fun to read and gave a bit of an insight into what others experience when they first come to our country. Thanks for a great story.
The most recent is A Thousand Splendid Suns. She brought it in for me at work and looking at it I thought I wouldn't get into it. But she said it was one of her favorites so I gave it a shot. I read it in two days because I couldn't put it down. Definitely a must read. She also just loaned me Water for Elephants and The Russian Concubine. She also enjoyed Twilight. I haven't read it but my daughter just got it so I'm sure at some point I will.

Have a great weekend!
A friend just loaned me your book and said I had to read it. I have it on my wish list so I will be reading it soon. I'm also a part of the 50 book challenge for
2009. I'm currently on book 3. It's great to get to connect with authors on this site. I'll let you know when I am done with your book. I'm sure I'll like it because the friend that loaned it to me always passes on the good ones. :O)
I firmly believe that all human beings have access to extraordinary energies and powers. Judging from accounts of mystical experience, heightened creativity, or exceptional performance by athletes and artists, we harbor a greater life than we know.”

-- Jean Huston
Heard about your book from Lani Diane Rich on her Will Write for Wine podcast.
Great book!
Hi again.. just got back from your website.. One True Theory of Love sounds great! How soon before it's available? Can't wait!
Hi Laura, You probably don't remember but you spoke with my book club by speaker phone last summer (Cypress Readers Book Club). We really enjoyed our time with you; you were so warm and friendly and patient with all our questions (thank you again!!) We loved Veil of Roses so much. Many (most? all?) of us have recommended it to friends, family, co-workers, etc. Anyway, I saw you here and wanted to say "Hey!" I would love to know what you're currently working on. Oh! I'll go check your website! Take care.
Hello Laura,
Thank you for accepting me as your friend on Library Thing!
Renee
Thank you for inviting me to be your LT friend. I recently read Veil of Roses (in only 1 day!), and I loved it. Looking forward to reading more of your work. :-)
I just finished reading Veil of Roses. I really enjoyed reading as Tamila entered our culture and saw things through very different eyes. Although I am glad to be born in America, I find our freedoms to at the same time be imprisoning. The lack of modesty and manners in our culture are saddening to me and cause many people to live in a form of bondage.
I enjoy reading about other cultures since our family will soon be moving to a new country with many different rules I hope it will help me to be more open-minded and able to adjust.
Thanks for a great read. I will read your next book when it comes out.
Christine
When I'm having a bad day my husband likes to surprise me with books. Several months ago I was feeling down and woke up to find 'Veil of Roses' on the pillow next to me. The book was just what I needed- a light story, but certainly not fluffy... and something you could see deeper cultural ideals in. I'm not normally one for romances, but your book was so much more than that. All of the issues of culture made for an interesting read, and the characters were vibrant and believable. Although the ending was a happy one, it didn't have the fairy-tale boy-and-girl-live-happily-ever-after that you would expect. Much to my pleasure the ending was open, leaving Tamila open to follow her own heart and find her own way. I hope you're working on something else, because you've got yourself some fans who are certainly waiting.
Thanks for the invitation to be a Library Thing friend. I should confess that I haven't read your book yet, but it's in very good company. In fact, of the fifteen books we share, I've only read five of them. My immediate reading goal is to finish Love in the Time of Cholera and The Kite Runner before the movies leave the theater, and that's going to be a challenge. I also have to finish two books that were loaned to me that I've had for way too long.
I'm so glad you sent a friendship request. I'm just finishing Water for Elephants and will start on Veil of Roses this evening. I've heard good things about it and I'm even more excited about getting started on it since you are here on librarything.
Hi,
I really enjoyed your book. I have shared your book with many others. thanks for such a great read!
Thanks for your friendship and for having my book listed in your library. I look forward to checking out your other books and hope you enjoy mine.
thank you so much for allowing us to feelhow others live and hope and how it feels to be sublimated even in this modern world. thanks for showing how much freedom of expression and living we take for granted
I picked up your book at Target yesterday and really enjoyed it. :) I can't wait for your next book.
Recently, I read Veil of Roses and enjoyed it very much. It was left on the shelf at work by someone who attended a party for you in Wauwatosa, WI. As I read it, I was thinking it would make a nice movie.
