Sobre mimI'm currently a librarian for several pre-k programs. That's right--I check out books to people who cannot yet read.
I have a BA in cognitive science and am pursuing a masters degree in library media and instructional technology. I've lived all over, but am calling Athens, Ga my home for the time being.
I'm also a liberal, an atheist, and an animal lover.
I dislike cucumbers.
Sobre a minha bibliotecaMy Library is somewhat eclectic. I have a lot of classics because I wouldn’t read anything else as a teenager. I think I had a terrible fear of accidentally reading a bad book so I stuck to the “greater” works of literature.
I'm a big fan of humor, so I have a lot of silly books. Most of them are hiding in my basement so I have not included them in my library yet.
I also have some books on thinking and the mind. Many of them were required reading for classes I took as an undergrad. I would have read them even if they were not though; they are all very interesting books.

i use puppets a lot, but just to introduce stories. but, if i were going to use puppets to tell stories, i would get lots of black socks and put velcro all over them for hair, costumes and mouths (tongues) and then be the narrator and then show the puppets acting out key parts of the story, like i do with the flannel board (magnet board).
also, i use a lot of action driven music at the end of every storytime and the kids LOVE it. I use Dan Zanes-All Around the Kitchen, Laurie Berkner (the album with Dinosaur Song and I Know a Chicken)...every song is audience participation, Sarah Boynton-Barnyard Dance song, Dragontales-Hello song-i cut up fabric into squares and we play peekaboo showing our faces when we say hello, Dancing Feet CD is very good, and any toddler CD set (look at the bookstores) has tons of tunes the little ones know and love.
finally, you can easily make fingerpuppets by making a paper shape and taping a strip of paper on back so you can wear it like a ring. and i often write the rhymes down on backs of puppets.
hope this helps. if you e-mail me at l_greenstein@hotmail.com, I will send you some sample ideas for storytime, an excel database of books on different topics, and anything else I can dig up that might be useful.
