Sobre mimGreetings. I'm Cat, the mother of 2 awesome kids. Calyn(BooGirl) is 22 and a book lover and Bunky is 19, and well, not. We still have hope. :)
I teach reading interventions in middle school and I am the director of an after school program for at risk teens. I go to school part time so my plate is full.

I love my Sony E-reader!!

For the record, I knew Snape was good, and...
Howie is still the cutest Backstreet Boy. HA Calyn! :D

Sobre a minha bibliotecaI read pretty much whatever catches my fancy at the moment. I never look for books that are written to "teach" anything. I open a book simply for the escape. If I should happen to learn something along the way, then so be it.

I am a borrower and lender/giver of books, so I don't own everything in my library. (Books are only useful when read) But, I do have special copies of certain books that I will never part with.
There are many books that I have read in my years that I simply can't recall. In my teens I was a huge Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew lover but there are so many that I honestly don't know which I've read and haven't read. I'm betting I've read the majority.
I do tend to read a lot of the YA fantasy and Historical Fiction that we have in our media center so I can recommend (or not) books to my students.

***I am a true Harry Potter geek and I would like to personally thank J.K. Rowling for making the whole world read..especially my daughter.***

I am very interested in the more "adult" Historical Fiction/Fantasy though, and if anyone has any recommendations please drop me a note.

** Whoever was so kind as to recommend Outlander by Diana Gabaldon...Thank you!!

Congratulations, you've won a pdf (ebook) copy of my book The Ash Spear. I'm emailing it to you now, and look forward to reading your review!

Seafood it is!
Enjoy your steak this weekend! I already have my life of books to read for next year!
What are you talking about! Every time I hear a Scottish accent or see a kilt (or a horse for that matter) I will think of Jamie.
WWJD?
What Would Jamie Do?
hehe
Have you read Brisingr yet?
Glad to be of help!

Hi Cat, I hope that quote will be useful in your collection of quotes for school. I love a good play on words (as you can tell from my profile pic, lol) but that particular one actually applies to things in my life at times.

By the way, I never doubted Snape for a minute.......probably one of my favourite characters!

Please feel free to drop around for a chat anytime. Outlander has been on my TBR pile for a while so would be interested to know what you think of it.
Yes, great idea. I've read the first one of the Ranger's Apprentice series and it probably would appeal to him. Plus they're in our school library. Thanks very much for the suggestion.
Oh MDlady, what a lovely comment to come home to! I'm so glad you enjoyed 'A World Invisible'. You can imagine that as a debut novelist I have no real way of knowing whether what I've written is any good apart from people's reactions, and each one is precious! With no promotional budget, my fingers are tightly crossed for a kind of viral marketing effect - word of mouth etc. If you feel you could "talk" about it, that would be wonderful!

I do have ideas about the sequel, although I have another book to finish first. Several people have reacted to Connor much the way you did (me too, of course), and while I don't want to give out any spoilers, I can promise he does feature.

Might I ask you a question? I don't know whether you read the thread on 'Read YA Lit' about the definition of YA, but I began it because an acquaintance of mine here in England (not quite a friend, you know what I mean) read the draft of AWI and commented that none of her students (including 17-yr-olds taking English Literature to our A-level standard) would be interested in the story because only Connor was young enough for them to care about. This staggered me. I just cannot believe she is right, and if she thinks that then surely it must be because the students are not being presented with anything other than stories with teenage protagonists. I see from your profile that you have a lot of contact with a wide range of teenagers, and would love to hear your thoughts.

I've requested "friendship" with you, by the way!

Cheers, Joanna
Wow, thanks for the advice MDlady! This is one of the reasons i'm glad I found librarything, sometimes I get stuck on the same authors and never bother to try anything different, then just get bored. Thanks! next book on my list is definitely by [[Gabaldon]]. I'm really excited!
I did read Outlander and loved it...but then read the third before the second and wrecked the series for myself...but...that was a loong time ago. I then wrote it off as candy floss, but I'll try it again. Maybe start from the beginning. It was a great read and to meet Jamie again would be lovely. Who doesn't love Jamie?

The magic of Mortal Instruments is starting to spread in my library too...I should actually read it though. It's next on my school list. Inkheart is a lot darker than I expected. I was expecting something a bit different from the cover.

Daughter of the Forest by Juiliet Marillier is the Seven Swans trilogy. It's a good one! One of my Fairy Tale, Women Characters favourites.

Thanks for the Mortal Instruments update, I appreciate it!
Okay, I'm a spaz! Looked under Z and not B! I will look up the seven swans one though.
Hey. Thanks for the post! I don't mind 40. Thirty was another story, but 40 is fine!
I just checked my books and yours and I realized I didn't post Marion Zimmer Bradley's The Mists of Avalon. If you like fantasy...it is a fabulous series. There are three books in the series and the prequel The Forest House. I loved it in university and still have it on the shelves today. I only keep the books that I love. The rest I pass on with no return policy. There is another great fantasy series that I should post on my books based on the seven swans fairy tale. It's a great one too. I have to remember the official title and the author though. I'll post it soon on my site and let you know when I remember - eternal brain failure. Looking forward to watching your site as well.

How is Mortal Instruments? I have it in my school library and lots of kids are signing it out. I'd like to read it but haven't yet. It looks really good.
Thanks for the message! I just started the Mortal instruments series a little while ago. I finished City Of Bones last week and I'm waiting for the next book to come in at the library!
Cat

Many thanks for your note and your support. It is very much appreciated. I am about to produce a second edition, changing the book covers and catching any outstanding errors. I'll post the cover on my websie when it's done.

Best regards

David
Thanks for the very kind comment on The Prophecy of the Kings and especially the 5 stars. It was very much appreciated. That was the full trilogy though so there is no next book. I am assuming I sent the trilogy? Some folk got just book 1 but the sounds of how big the volume was suggests that you got the trilogy.

I am working on a prequel to cover Drachar's rise to power, but that may be some time off. I am spending a lot of time trying to market the trilogy. I am also working on a children's novel.

Thanks again

David
You stayed up alllll night reading Jace didn't you!!!!!!!!
