Thanks for the recommendations. Hayek's Road to Serfdom is definitely on my list to read eventually, but I hadn't heard of Muller's The Mind and the Market, so I'll have to add that one to my list. I've read Bulgakov's The Master and Margarita, and found it witty and well-written, but I nevertheless actually rather disliked it---possibly because of Bulgakov's convoluted views on good and evil. But maybe I'll give Heart of a Dog a shot.

Thanks. I just wish my LT catalog was in better order. The tags, especially for my economics and politics books, are somewhat incoherent. I am slowly working on it, but it seems to be an endless process. I find it odd that there aren't more people with books by Hayek and his friends. I don't feel like I really deserve to be the Hayek champion--if indeed I still am. It seems that non-fiction people are not as interested in LT as one might think they should be.

Thank you for adding my library to your interesting libraries list. I am impressed that, among the books that we share, there are a large number of books that I admire, for example those by Hayek, Mises, and T. E. Lawrence.

yes, I think Dawkins is brilliant. (Although I do not entirely agree with some of his views). I have been trying to get "The Extended Phenotype", doesn't seem to have an indian edition

I read your review of the The meme machine. It was very good. Right from the time I read The Selfish Gene, I have been wondering about this concept of memes as replicators. Thanks to your review, I planning to pick up this book.

The Road Past Mandalay was recommende to me by GEN William Crouch (USA, Ret) when he was the senior mentor to a training exercise I was on. It took me about 6 months to track down a copy, and I was blown away. I found it to be absolutely brilliant and a work that I revisit every year or so.

Miro -- Thank you for joining the Political Conservative group! And thank you for your debut post -- a real winner! Road to Serfdom is high on my list to read, but not yet on my shelf. First up for me is Capitalism and Freedom, because I own it now. Then probably Free to Choose, because I just gave a copy to my dad and will borrow it back. I'd be interested to know how you compare the two Friedman books, if you've read the other one.

thanks for the comment. I spent a year reading accounts of the ten month campaign in NW Europe. I think it was as dirty a war as the Eastern Front. I have read some Glantz - he is clearly the english speaking authority on the Russian Front. However he is hard to read. You should consider Anthony Beevor's "Stalingrad". Very readable (I think he is a Brit). Your collection is impressive, more literary. I have read a fair amount of fiction but rarely keep the books.
