Sobre mimI've lived and worked in northwestern Canada most of my adult life, and seem to be fairly permanently settled in a small town on the alaska highway. I cross country ski every day all winter, and hike and paddle in the summer, when I'm not reading, that is.

Sobre a minha bibliotecaMost of my books are now listed, except for a few odds and ends scattered around. I only have books listed here that I own. I may start on my CD's, videos and DVD's when the books are finished - or maybe not.

When I finished cataloguing most of my books I was surprised to find that over 10% of my books were not yet catalogued by anyone else, since then it has dropped to about 9% - still seems like quite a lot.

I have a particular interest in books about the Canadian north and the outdoors, especially to do with areas I have visited myself.

Thank you(!) for your cover of 'The Nahanni Portfolio". Great take of a great book.
I think I requested something else, too, but I can't recall what and the rose book was the one I wanted most. Gives me something to look forward to. I'm very selective about what I request from the ER program - only stuff I really think I want. Of course, half the stuff I really want isn't available to Canada, but them's the breaks.
Congrats on becoming a lifetime member! So far AGD is not as bad as I expected. I tried not to read anyone else's reviews but of course some contamination couldn't be avoided. I have some problems with the main character, but I'll finish the book before I try to articulate them.
Well, guess what showed up in the mail today? Yup - Any Given Doomsday. Also Bitten. Timing is not ideal - I just picked up 4 books at the public library (reserves that just came in) and I still have a huge stack from World Fantasy Con. Oh, well. I'll review AGD right away as I've been waiting for it so long, and maybe Bitten can wait a couple of weeks.
I just hope Bitten arrives! I'm still waiting for Smoke Gets In Your Eyes and Any Given Doomsday. Of course, given the reviews the latter is getting, I'm not exactly looking forward to it anymore, but I do take ER seriously and will give it a chance.
I'm still waiting for July and August ER books too. At least for August I got a message saying it was delayed and would ship first week of September. No word on July at all. Assuming the August bonus book ever shows I can definitely lend it to you when I'm done.
Yeah, I'm happy - Cul De Sac was the one I wanted most. I read that strip in the Journal and I like it. I wasn't hugely impressed with the August list - the stuff I wanted most wasn't available in Canada. Oh, well. I wish July's book would arrive, but it is too early to be emailing Abby about it. Nobody else has reported getting it either.
I gave up on Churchill's other series - the whole "housewife as amateur sleuth" thing got to boring and irritating me. As far as ER goes, I only got one book that you didn't and I'm pretty sure it was because of all the kids' books I have listed.
Well, I see we are getting the same ER book again. I liked the others in that series so hope this one is good, too.
Well i spoke to my mother, Meg Hodges, a day or two ago, and it turns out she does know yours. I'm not certain how well, because she almost immediately drifted the conversation onto the story of someone who moved to Saltspring and now sells silkscreened salmon and, as happens with parents, i'm not entirely sure how the conversation got there. But, our mothers do know each other. Cool, links like that.
Got Tell Me Where It Hurts today! Won't have time to read much until Sunday due to working the book sale, but it looks good. The little dog on the cover is adorable :)
I just signed up too, so not sure how long it takes for the book to come. I have been reading the Talk group and it seems variable. The publishers ship the books so it is up to them.

The funny thing? I got the same book as you :)
Funnily enough, from my mother, who lives & goes to church on Saltspring!
I do, currently, live in Wales. I was born in England, grew up largely in BC, and lived the majority of my adult life in the US; we came here two years ago.
Ha, i see we and we alone share Loaves and Fishes too. May i ask how you got a hold of that rather specialised book?
Cheers.
Well, you could get rid of some - that's what I do when I run out of shelf space. There are always some that I know I will never read again no matter how bored I get and to which I don't have any sentimental attachment. Or ones (like Lady Chatterley's Lover (which was actually a terrible book anyway and deserved to be weeded on that ground alone) that I was embarrassed to have in the house or afraid the kids would find :). Start a box to bring down and sell next time you're in Edmonton.

Mind you, I keep buying more, too...
Yay - you made it to the top of my shared books list (weighted, not yet raw, but I bet you get there too).
w00t! you broke 1000!
