Sobre mimWhen I'm not visiting Pern, I like to curl up with my Firelizards and a good book. My Dragon likes reading too, but he's a little too big to fit in the house.
When Earthside, I'd rather be outdoors, but I'm not into team sports. Hiking, Geocaching, Bicycling (both on and off-road), and, recently added, Kayaking are typical outdoor pursuits. All else failing, a lunch time walk will suffice to keep me in good spirits.
I'm also an amateur storyteller and enjoy collecting tales of the supernatural and unusual. I've combined my enjoyment of walking with this by taking several walking ghost tours. I make use of my storytelling both in campfire stories and as a part of my job. When not recording other people, I narrate books for the library I work for.
Speaking of Earthside, where are you?

Sobre a minha bibliotecaPretty eclectic, but I favor Sci-Fi and Fiction in general over Non-Fiction. Historical Fiction, particularly 19th Century America or Europe, is my favorite cross-over genre closely followed by Alternative History. If I've read it, and remember it, it's here. For those interested, I've noted in the Comments field which titles are on my permanent physical bookshelf. These are the books that will never leave my library. All the others have been read, but may have moved on to someone else's library.
A key to my ratings . . . I enjoy reading. It takes a lot to really get me excited about a book though, as I have a lot to compare the reading experiences to. If a book is simply enjoyable but worth reading, I'll give it three stars. If I'm waffling about the book being worth reading or not, I'll go a half point on either side. If I forced myself to finish a book but still hated it, my rating will reflect that as well. To get a full five star rating, I've got to be really blown away by the book. If I read it, I'll rate it.
I am not a professional reviewer, but I am very opinionated. I'd like to write a review of every book in my library, but how many reviews of, let's say "Da Vinci Code" do we really need? If I do write a review for works that have some reviews already posted, use that to temper my rating. If I've read something that does not have a review, I'll try to get people thinking about it.
Any of my reviews that say "Originally on Amazon" are *MY* reviews, not reviews ripped off from Amazon, that I previously wrote and published on Amazon. Same for any titles that I have on BookCrossing. Rather than posting a link, I've included the review here for simplicity.
