Sobre mimBy day I catalog books for a library. Lately I’ve spent my evenings cataloging my own collection here on LibraryThing!

The focus of my collection is first edition Newbery winners and Honor Books. I began buying them from used bookstores about twenty-five years ago, then later worked with a bookdealer/finder to locate the more obscure titles. For the past decade or so -- thanks to the wonders of the web -- I’ve been able to find most of the books I need on the internet...though at times I’ve had to pick up pop and beer cans on the side of the road and turn them in for refunds in order support my book-buying habit.

In addition to the Newberys, my collection contains some adult fiction and nonfiction, as well as a number of classy volumes from the eighteenth and nineteenth century given to me by an aunt. In looking over my collection on LibraryThing, it almost appears to be dominated by paperback suspense novels I collected in high school, volumes about show business, and various and sundry other items; I just hope these titles don't overwhelm my collection and detract from its chief focus, and my main interest and passion: children's and young adult books.

Sobre a minha bibliotecaA word about how I’ve tagged my collection:

So far I’m not indicating edition/printing for paperback books; I’m just tagging them as “paperback.”

If I’ve listed a book as a “first edition,” I’ve tried to take every precaution that is a true first edition.

Books listed as “signed,” are generally signed by with a simple signature; those listed as “inscribed” were inscribed by the author to an earlier recipient somewhere down the chain of ownership; those listed as “personally inscribed” were inscribed by the author to me -- usually at a local booksigning event.

I’m trying to upload pictures of as many dustjackets as I can, but in some cases I’ve used other images already stored on LibraryThing. If they don’t match my own copy of the book, I’ll try to replace them as time permits.

Have you start reading the book "The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate"
I enjoyed your library
I noticed I have the same edition of A Wrinkle in Time - the 25th Anniversary boxed edition by Farrar, Straus and Giroux (Crosswicks Ltd.) 1987 Special Edition -- and I've added a cover for it, in case you'd like to use it.
I just added your library to my Interesting Libraries, after reading your blog, which I must say is a real pleasure to read with the great pictures of books and ephemera.
I just uploaded a cover image for Song of the Pines. Thought you might want to use it!

I have a number of Junior Literary Guild selections (from decades ago; I don't really care about their picks of recent years/decades). Have you any thought of collecting them as well? They are among my favorite books. I've tagged them Junior Literary Guild, in order to look at them all together sometimes!
I see we share some of the best of the best! Please tell me a bit about The Pageant of Chinese History by Elizabeth Seeger. It sounded like such a strange choice for a Newbery, that I want to at least look at a copy -- and the libraries around here do not have even a single one! Who is the illustrator, if any? Thanks,
Amy
