Sobre mimI think I became rather hooked on books when I was 8 years old. I read my first science fiction novels in the 6th grade at age 11. Among the first few SF I read: The Purple Cloud by M.P. Shiel, The Time Traders and Daybreak 2250 AD by Andre Norton and the Black Cloud by Fred Hoyle. The next year I started on ER Burrough's Tarzan and Mars series.
Sobre a minha bibliotecaIt is primarily science fiction with some history, gardening, mysteries and thrillers and a little bit of everything. A favorite is anthologies, since I really enjoy science fiction short stories and novellas. In particular I like the annual best science fiction of the year series such as by Gardner Dozois as well as "golden-age" anthologies. Some of these books, esp mysteries, McCaffrey are shared books with my other half but are included here so we can keep track.

Thank you for your review of Rising Shadow. As you noted, it's definitely not for everyone. The protagonist does mature as the series progresses--she loses her superficial, 19 year-old angst and begins to see the world beyond her own obsessive insecurity. But I think you assessed it exactly right when you said it's more for the Twilight audience than your average sci-fi fan, as the love story is woven into the fabric of the series arc. The second book, Merger, is coming out in a couple of months and might be more to your liking, as there's less giddiness and more tension in their relationship, much more like the second half of Rising Shadow. But again, this series just isn't going to be for everyone, and I really appreciate your taking the time to write a thorough and thoughtful review, as it will help guide the right readers to the book.
Best regards,
