I read Midnight's Children for a college class and Possession just a few years ago. The others I haven't read. I really enjoyed The Sea, The Sea, too. I recently finished Moon Tiger (is that what it was called?) but it didn't make much of an impact. Oh, and I live in Utah County. It's hard to find other "readers" but I do belong to a book club so there's some hope...

I was looking for someone who is in Utah who likes to discuss books...I have just started reading Booker prize winners and have only made it through a few but I saw that you seem to have read them all. I wondered what your favorites have been.

i still haven't got to the end of last year's longlist, the last two titles "winnie and wolf" and "self-help" are there in the shop in hard-back but i've spent way too much money to be able to justify grabbing 'em for the moment. i managed to get a bookshop to sponsor some of my booker reading in exchange for reviews, which helped a lot.

Just happened to see your moniker, and thought I'd take a look. How are you getting on there in West Jordan? We lived in Sandy for a couple of years, with a beautiful view of the Wasatch Range. Utah is hard to beat for natural beauty.

What do you think of Kiran Desai's win? It is the only one from the shortlist that I have read (so far), but I wasn't overly impressed. I am a follower of all things Booker as well but have found that over the last couple of years the best book has not always won (Cloud Atlas was better than Line of Beauty by enormous margins). Am interested to hear your thoughts about this years victor, apparently she isn't even too keen on the Booker. She says it is because it represents colonialism but perhaps it is because her Mom was thrice shortlisted and never won.
