Sobre a minha bibliotecaWith a few exceptions, my library is constantly changing. Every time we move - and we move often - the collection is severely reduced. I wish I still had every book I ever owned and a home big enough to hold them! My collection in LibraryThing is what I have in my possession at the moment as well as some books that I have read recently and passed on. I have read many that are not listed here. Although I read all kinds of material I particularly enjoy history, the classics, biography, natural history, travel, feminist literature, and mysteries.

This is an explanation of my rating system:

5 Outstanding, highly recommended
4 Very good, recommended to author/genre fans
3 Average
2 Disappointing
1 Not worth reading

Although I try not to use them, half stars indicate a slight variation of rank or where I have some hesitation in assigning a full star.

Obviously, my personal taste is the crux of the rating, A five star mystery does not necessarily compare with a classic work of literature also having five stars, it simply indicates just that I enjoyed them equally. I also consider if I would recommend the work, and to whom. My Favourites collection is based on a different principle so a five star rating doesn't guarantee entry, neither does a Favourites entry insure five stars.

In spite of trying to be consistent I often come across a rating that is out of keeping when compared with others similarly ranked so changes are made now and then.

I am honoured that you have included my library in your list of interesting libraries.
Thanks for adding us, Vivienne! We have one book on offer in the Early Reviewers program this month and I think there should be three scheduled for January.

Cheers!
Bronwyn
Thank you for including me in your " Interesting Libraries" list!
Hello, VivienneR!

I have not read The Wife's Tale. Your reading list on the Canadian challenge was so interesting, that I opened every link on it to look at those books. The Wife's Tale and Mamie's Children both called to me! So, I've added them to my wishlist, and hope I can find them to read for this challenge.

Funny you should mention "interesting libraries" for tagging. I am always adding members to "interesting libraries" or "private watch list" for one thing or another - their tagging structure, their collections concepts, their profile helpfulness, the 'interestingness' of their books, if their reviews are ones that I want to check back on periodically... I would LOVE for "Connections" to have modules for all those other member facets.

Oh, and about my tagging - I'm not satisfied with mine, either! On the one hand, I want to see all my (for instance) 50 states together in one spot on my tag page. So I use a kludgey prefix to gather them together. On the other hand, its not intuitive to do those prefixes whenever I enter a new book, so there is endless housekeeping that 'should' be done on my tags page, to keep it up to date with its concept. I would LOVE to be able to order my tags page to my own liking and be able to dispense with the prefixes.

But Tim hasn't hired me as a consultant yet, so I'll just go on loving LT like it is!

Regards,
countrylife

(For continuity) you said:

"I have added your library to my "interesting libraries" because I really admire your tagging. I'm not satisfied with mine so I may drop by now and then to get some tips.

I see you have added The Wife's Tale which I snagged from the ER program. It was better than I thought it was going to be. How did you like it?"
I am honoured that you have included my library in your list of interesting libraries.

Ah.
A person who loves CATS and hates "very unique"
Need I say more.
Yes, I better check out your authors too. I read mostly mysteries these days, but I do branch out to other genres on occassion. I like to read a lot of serials and I love historical mysteries. My current favourite author though is Phil Rickman. I love his Merrily Watkins series.
What a beautiful cat! Welcome to Women of Mystery, by the way, and feel free to post!
