Sobre mimI'm currently swamped in school work and have been avoiding the forums until I'm able to catch up. I miss the conversations, but I'll be back as soon as I can!
I'm an underprivileged and perpetually bored university student majoring in both the arts and the sciences. Conversation tends to irritate me, so I read.
Answers to questions I'm frequently asked include: Yes, I wear nerdy glasses. Yes, my hair is purple. Yes, that's steel in my face. No, I'm not a bunny-eared mutant from outer space.
Topics of particular interest to me include (but are not limited to): addiction, alternative medicine, animal behavior, animal care, biology, censorship, cooking, conspiracies, cryptozoology, death, DIY, environment, evolution, going green, plant care, religions, speculative science, surrealism, and world cultures and languages.
Sobre a minha bibliotecaMy full library comprises thousands of books on a variety of subjects. I have bookshelves in every room of my house.
I learned to read by the time I was just three years old. At seven, I was devouring full-length novels. I wish I would've kept better records. The books I own now are only a fraction of those that were ever a part of my collection.
I use LibraryThing to keep track of books I've read and books I intend to read, not necessarily all the books I own or have owned. Most of my books come used, and plenty leave my hands as soon as I'm finished reading them. Books are meant to be read, right? I consider myself a lifelong liberator of literature. You'll find information about some of my releases in the "notes" section of my catalog.
I tag books as I'm reading them, but never before. Please see the appropriate columns in my catalog for information about when I've finished reading a book.
Genres weigh in heavily as I consider what rating to give any book I've read. For example, just because I've rated a children's book with five stars doesn't necessarily mean that I think it's better than a classic I've rated with only three stars.
I recognize comprehension as an important aspect of reading, so I include plot synopses within my reviews along with my thoughts and comments. Consequently, many of my reviews contain spoilers. Consider yourself warned.

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Because of all the great recommendations / authors I’ve never heard of before piles of books are growing around us, so we’ve decided to buy more bookcases and paint them to match the walls too … hopefully this’ll mean I can get some more books off the floor and onto my TBR category on LT! I’m hoping to get some new pictures of it soon when it’s finally finished.
I see on your reviews you liked Night Watch, I’ve just finished the audio book of it (I’ve read / heard a few of Pratchett’s books but mainly on audio book, his writing seems really well suited to being read out), and it has to be my favourite of his ‘vimes / guards’ stories, really funny and a great storyline. I love his little social commentaries such as vimes ‘boot theory of socioeconomic unfairness’ :)
