Sobre mimWhen you read any of my forum posts, please keep in mind:
a) I am not an expert in anything and don't profess to be
b) I read genre fiction and I don't think less of myself because it "ain't literature"
c) I don't have "proof" for anything I say because: see a) & b)
About half my reading is done via audiobook format while I do other things (train for marathons, for example). I like my books mature, easy to read and moral-free. Other than very rare exceptions I don't read short stories at all.
I was going to list my fiction of choice but realized that other than apocalyptic/dystopic stories, my reading is pretty diverse. In fact, it's easier to state what I don't like reading: children/young adult (anything with teen angst), westerns, historical fiction, and traditional romance.
Sobre a minha bibliotecaWe have a loose household rule that we're not supposed to buy/keep books so most of my reading comes from the library and my audiobooks come from Audible.
Collections:
Books are grouped by their format (Books, Audiobooks and, someday, Ebooks)
To Read are to-read books that I can get from the library
Wishlist are to-read books that I can not get from the library

Male Romance
I have tagged several books as "male romance" because they were suggested to me when I was trying to find some male authors who write a convincing romantic thread in a novel that is otherwise not a romance.
Pre-LT
I review every book I read (after April 2009), so if there's no review, that means I read it prior to joining LT and don't have a review (or fresh memory) of it. These books are tagged "pre-LT" to identify them.
Apocalyptic
a.k.a Dystopic, Post-Apocalyptic, Dystopia and etc. I use the one tag "apocalyptic" which includes any material that has the ending, new beginning, or post-ending of humankind/earth as we know it as its topic.
Crime
A catch-all for any mystery, detective, crime or non-horror thriller I read.
Religious
Includes any book with a religious basis, premise or over-arching theme, regardless of genre or religion.
Star Ratings
I don't expect a genre novel to be great literature, but I do expect it to be logical and sensible and written with some minimum of skill (i.e. there are characters that are a bit more than cliches and stereotypes).
1 star means the book was unpleasant to read.
2 stars means the book did not meet my expectations (below average for its genre and/or from what I expected).
3 stars is what I'd consider an average book which was acceptably written but which is not particularly engaging and would neither encourage nor discourage me from reading more by that author or in that series.
4 stars is slightly above average for its genre and indicates that I'm likely to read more books by the author and/or from the series.
5 stars means the story stuck with me long after I finished and/or that it really surpassed my expectations and/or that it made me think about something in a different way.

I'll have to give Oryx and Crate a try.
And say, if you haven't checked it out already, my favourite audio book of the last few years is Neil Gaiman's "Anansi Boys" read by Lenny Henry.
BTW - Yup, I'm from Edmonton, AB.
