Sobre mimMy mother claims I've had a book in my hand since I was 2 and read, stacked and re-stacked my Golden Books until they fell apart. I am definately a bookaholic! Growing up in the anthracite region of northeastern Pennsylvania, we had libraries but no book stores. I guess I've over compensated ever since. I have to own the book...sorry librarians, I just can't help it. It's my addiction.
A high-school history teacher in my earlier life, I live in suburban Philadelphia with my husband and 2 sons and have been a magazine and web editor for the past 20 years.
Sobre a minha bibliotecaEclectic but heavy on historical fiction and non-fiction. I'm fortunate to have a library in my home but have only found the time to catalog about 55% of my books. So this in an ongoing hobby. Luckily I've also become addicted to LT.

I enjoyed that book so much my son and I went to Barcelona to find all the places in the book...he loved the book too and the scavenger hunt we did there. :)

I've read all of the Thomas/Charlotte Pitt series (finished 'Buckingham Palace Gardens" in Aug. '09), most of the Monk series (need to Find/Read the most recent Monk), and all five of her WWI series. I've also read a couple of her Christmas/Holiday short novels featuring secondary characters from the Monk series).

Thanks for the heads up about Outlander. I've always been a fairly liberal reader (and person), but I have been a teacher for so long that anything that is potentially offensive sets off alarm bells for me. Not sure how I feel about that. Perhaps it's a self-protective mechanism against possible reactions from parents? Do you have that experience? Still, I look forward to the Outlander books. Thanks so much for your input!

Thank you for noticing my library - it is all the flattering as you are obviously a lady who knows her books.

I see we have a few favorites in common ~ although not on my official LT favorite authors list, I also love the Anne Perry series (both) and think Doris Kearns Goodwin's "A Team of Rivals" is amazing. Another similarity between us is the way we grew up loving books. Your evocative description of 2-year old you stacking your Golden Books brought up an image of myself at around the same age sitting in the corner of my grandma's kitchen where my "library" of Golden Books was the bottom shelf of the cart that held the electric roaster. I loved those books, and still have some of them ~ the ones that didn't fall apart from over-handling. :)
Just a quick note on "Guernsey." If you still haven't read it, I think you will like it a lot. I loved it.
Happy reading!

Thanks for adding me to the list of your interesting libraries. Quite flattering!
I see we share a passion for Charlotte and Thomas Pitt. What about William Monk? I like this series even more, as the mysteries are more complicated even though at times more disturbing. It will be interesting to hear your opinion.
In the meantime, happy reading!!

I actually haven't had a chance to read "Guernsey" either! Actually for the same reason you haven't- I have a bunch of ARCs to read through. I recently bought "Guernsey" but it's sitting in my giant TBR pile. I've heard it's amazing though!
Sidenote- that's awesome that you're an editor. That's one of the things I'm considering I want to be in the future.
