Sobre mimWhat do I say? Something funny, like "I stay in a job I hate because I'll be unable to pass a drug test anywhere else, and I do drugs because I hate my job, and I hate my job because gave up I wound up sacrificing my dreams to a steady paycheck"? Or should I be honest? Admit that I'm afraid to go to college and leave my friends behind even though I'm convinced they won't miss me at all, and I'm desperately afraid that college will be just as lonely as high school, afraid that I'll fail in college, so much so that sometimes I dream I'd die young so people'll remember me for everything I could've been, before I grow old and fail to live up to the expectations set for me. I'm afraid I'll become just another capitalist drone, another cog in the machine, and that my last thought would be "Why did I take so many days---including today---for granted?" Maybe something lighter: I can't wink with my right eye. Or, I once fed a chicken nugget to a chicken, and to this day, I still feel guilty about it.

Pssh. . . . Here's another secret: I lie about myself so people'll believe I'm more interesting than I really am, when the truth is, I'm writing this at 10:00 P.M. on a Friday night because right now, I didn't have anything to do.

Sobre a minha bibliotecaIt's not filled with all the books I've ever read, because I'm afraid that would cross the line between having a love for books and into becoming obsessed with them. (And also because there are some books I'd rather admit I read; trust me when I say there are things much worse than Clancy.)

Some of the books I add because they've changed how I see something, whether it's the world, people or genres. But mostly because I really liked them. I wish I could say there was some real principle behind them. Maybe I'll organize them later.

We missed the running of the the bulls. Pamplona was on the other side of Spain than where we went. It is north and east of Madrid. Part of those miles were because we made a big circle through Spain. Part were because we made lots of little circles due to the maps. :)

We did give our regards to Picasso sort of. We stopped in Malaga and visited the museum of the house he was born in and saw the church he was baptized in. The Picasso museum was closed as it was Monday. Tulsa is laid out totally square with street names in alphabetical order or number order (except our neighborhood which it totally confusing). It used to really bug me how organized the town is. Now I really appreciate it. :)

Actually, we went to Spain. My daughter is studying there this summer, so we went there with her for a week. We rented a car and drove around a lot -- 2500 km. It was fun, but I am glad to be back home. I can't wait until she is back, too, as the problems of phone cards is making communication very difficult. And she has limited access to internet, too. But she is in a town on the North coast which has a great climate and she is using her Spanish 24-7. I know she will never forget it. This was our first trip overseas, so it was quite an adventure. These are bull frogs so they can defend themselves. I like the music though some people find it annoying. My boyfriend carried a bucketful of romantically inclined frogs up the street and put them out at a swimming pool of a house for sale.

Wow, that's really quick for media rate shipping! Maybe the mailroom got confused and sent them first class instead. Oh well, anyway, thanks but I don't want Vanity Fair. I'm trying to get rid of more books than I acquire these days -- I swear I'm a human book magnet. So take your time with the Kingsolver. I've got plenty to read here. :)

Just went through my Library, organizing my books with the new Collections feature. And it was only as I began placing them into the "Read but unowned" category, that I realized how many have yet to be returned! I know books are not meant to be hoarded like a miser squirreling away gold, but still!

Thanks for the book title. I added it to my wishlist. I have heard so many positive things about Origin of Species. I have a collection of Darwin books, but I haven't read any of them yet. I think you could be right about the music. I recognized it but did not place it. I was especially amazed at the work in the dark. I thought that the dogs would have to see the person directing them to herd the sheep. I keep telling my dog that she is a working dog, too, but she assures me that she is a vacation dog. :) (She is a golden retriever.) I got to see some sheep dogs about an hour out of Tulsa where my husband does some work. They live with the sheep and protect them. They are pretty amazing. And the lambs were too cute. Hope you had a great weekend!

Thanks so much for the article. I currently have On the Origin of Species on my tbr, and my daughter is wanting me to buy the Principia. And I just got The Wealth of Nations. So now I know that I need to read these books. The football one threw me, but I am guessing it is what I think of as soccer. I am glad that I am not the one going to college and having to stay awake in those classes and use the communal shower. :) I thought it was pretty funny when the guy in the next seat gave him to wrong answer! Thanks for the entertainment! Have a great day!

Actually, I would have gone with the free hugs guy. I guess people just thought he was funny.

This dog is pretty cute, but he really only likes my neice. He is not too partial to her boyfriend or roommate. But maybe the hoodie was what made him so excited. I think her boyfriend was trying to tell him who he was. The reason they taped was because he made such funny noises. But he is mostly a one person dog. However, she has not really had him that long, so I think that he will probably learn to like at least her boyfriend and roommate. He is pretty cute.

Haven't seen the others yet. I'll get back to ya!

Thanks so much for the congrats for my daughter's graduation. It was wonderful. Perfect weather. Pretty good seats in the rafters. Nice drive home with the radio playing and the windows down and a cool breeze. Plus family and the food turned out ok (I just warmed up the restaurant fare). Plus, one smiley faced daughter. I can't wait to show her that youtube link that you sent me. It is too funny. She is quite good at searching youtube. Whenever I ask for something, she will try to find it. Remember those bizarre quiznos ads with the singing rats? Well, they were all the rage around the schools here, and I told her that I wanted to see them again and they were off the air and she found them. They still make me laugh. Right now she is at the all night party. And she is all smiles. No sentimental nonsense today!

When does your sister graduate? I hope that her day is great, too. :) Take care and thanks for stopping by!

Thanks so much for the links. I loved the youtube video and the music. I was not familiar with the band before, but I loved it. One time on tv I saw someone giving free hugs -- not this guy -- and I thought how nice that someone wants to give friendship. I loved that he got 10,000 signatures by the end of the video! :) I am glad that you found out the name of that dancing video, because I know that I will want to see it again. I also wondered how he saw so many places. I just figured either he has a great job or he is a trust fund baby. :D I also loved the drawing. When I was in college (in the 80s) I got a poster with a print by Picasso called hands and flowers. I still have it today. I just love it. There is something so nice about a hand reaching out. That's why that Free Hugs video is so nice. :) Thanks also for the fantasy suggestions. I read The Name of the Wind last year and really enjoyed it. I think that the next book is coming out soon. I will definitely look into The Forgotten Beasts of Eld. I see that you have Ender's Shadow. I am planning to read Ender's Game right after my daughter's graduation. Sorry to ramble on so much. Thanks so much for the friends invitation! I love following what my LT friends are reading and putting into their libraries!! Also, I wanted to thank you for the suggestions of scifi books. I will write them all down for my next nomination. I have been trying to read more SFF because both of my girls love it so much. :) Also, I thought the ideas for a travel guide to the city or nearby city for a graduate was an excellent idea. I sometimes gives local and state maps to those traveling out of town. I also sometimes give a tshirt or something else with the school logo on it. However, I do think that lots of that stuff is available once at school. One thing that I did for my older daughter when she went to college was fill out an address book with the addresses and phone numbers of all of our family members, so that she could keep in contact without having to call me for the address or number. Best of luck to your sister who is graduating. She will definitely appreciate a few calls from you when she is off on her own. Finally, thanks for the youtube link. I loved it! Did you ever see the one of the guy who travelled the entire world and filmed himself dancing everywhere? I can't think what it was called, but it was terrific!! I am pretty sure that I got the link for that somewhere here on LT. Have a wonderful day!

Thanks for the link to the graduation gift topic. I am not a part of that group, so I did not know about it. Also, I did not know that you could put a link in a comment. I guess I should have realized that. I need to add books to the library. I guess I will have lots of time to do that next year when I am an empty nester! I like your library, too. I am always looking for suggestions for SFF. I probably already told you this, but I am a part of the Group Reads -- Science Fiction group, and I always need ideas when it is time to suggest books for the next group read. So I like to find titles on the 50 book challenge that other enjoyed to suggest. Have a great day!!

Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. I was listening to an audio book of Romeo and Juliet, and there was this line:

I have a friend on LT who is very ill and when I saw this on your thread it immediately made me think of him and I wanted to post it to him. He is a very special guy that I would love to be able to know personally, but as you know with LT, we are located so hither and yonder, that it just doesn't happen. Anyway, I copied and pasted it into a post for him and I wanted to let you know. Most people don't mind something like that but some do so I usually confess------------but after the fact so the crime can already have been committed.
Beautiful, isn't it?
And yeah, I understand about the "belly laugh" thing and that it can be confusing if the terminology is not used where you are.
I don't know where you are but we are in the states and my girls have been known to tease me about "belly laughing until I pee my socks!~! And sadly --- it has happened. But you know, when you are 61 so is the bladder!~!~!
