Sobre mimI am 28 years old. I fell in love with collecting books after turning into an English Lit major in college. Currently I am working for the Minnesota Literacy Council, after spending two years doing AmeriCorps. I love books. I love reading. I have become obsessed with book swapping sites online (www.paperbackswap.com, www.bookmooch.com). I will buy books at garage sales and such and then swap them for books I really want. Greatest invention ever!

Sobre a minha bibliotecaI read mostly fiction, some memoir type stuff. I love magical realism, outdoorsy books, anything set in the american west and world literature (chinese, indian, middle eastern and latin american).

I have been collecting for about 6 years now, and my books are starting to outgrow me both in space and time.

And yes, I actually own all the books in my catalog here...

Hi, we have a lot of the same tastes (I am still adding my books to LT!) I am jealous that you work with books for a living, I would love to do that.
Sarah, Have noticed you haven't posted anything in a while. Are you doing okay? How did your surgery turn out? I was just wondering how you were. I've always enjoyed looking at your journal and seeing how your were doing on you National Park trips. Hope you are okay.

Moon
Sarah, how did you like the book Wicked? And have you seen the play. I've read the book and my wife and I went to see the play in Tulsa. I thought the book was a very good read and loved the play.
Hello,
I am a writer of Western fiction and I'm looking for folks who may be interested in things of the west like I am. I live in NM and enjoy hiking and exploring all over the southwest.
Feel free to add me as a friend if you want.
Thanks,
Jon.
Hi, Thanks for acceptance....
Hope U will be fine there
Noticed you liked She's Come Undone, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also about a disturbed young girl's downward spiral and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Thanks,

hey just wanted to say I've been enjoying your blog, I've felt exactly the same way about several books you mentioned! Happy reading!
Ahh took me a second to place who you were :) 22 books in common, I know it would be much higher if I had half the rest of my collection listed
Hi, still appreciating your LT, and am particularly glad to have a fellow Asian lit fan.
Eugenia
Goldiebear,
Happy to see that you are reading my novel "A Thousand Veils." When you have finished it, please send me an email at Veils1000@aol.com, and I will email you the discussion points.
goldiebear: Thanks for writing back so quickly. And thank you, thank you, thank you for the suggestions. I have read a couple of your picks, the Khaled Hosseinis and "The Bookseller of Kabul." (Because I can't find a record of the latter in my personal library, I'm guessing I borrowed it.) I own "What is the What", "One Hundred Years of Solitude" and "Snow Flower". The other two I haven't heard of at all. I'll definitely check them out.

I'm currently reading "Dreamers of the Day" by Mary Doria Russell. The majority of the story is set in Cairo during the Cairo Conference (is that right? I'm not sure) which was attended post-WWI by T. E. Lawrence, Winston Churchill, and Gertrude Bell. It is just excellent and very relevent.

Have a great day!
You have a wonderful and fascinating library! I found you because you mentioned not liking (so much) "Falling Man". Anyway, could you do two things for me: 1) Your five(-ish) top books of Middle-Eastern lit, and 2) (however many) top world lit reads. If you don't mind, that is. I have been feeling woefully "lemming-ish" lately; that I read too much "popular" literary fiction. Thanks so much!
If you like world literature and magical realism, you might consider reading "Shalimar the Clown" by Salman Rushdie. It's really an amazing book. It follows Shalimar from his once-happy childhood in Kashmir to his marriage to his village sweetheart; from her abandonment of him for another man to his revenge on her and her child. On the way, he becomes a heartless terrorist. The description of his emotional spiral is at once surprisingly touching and naturally repellant. Rushdie displays the best of his talent with this book.
I haven't had much time to read the last couple of days. So far, The Secret History is very good, but I haven't read much at all. I'll let you know when I read more!
By the way, I was reading a few of your blog reviews. Did you know the man that Dave Eggers based What is the What was speaking at Magers and Quinn last month? I missed it and I really wanted to go. I haven't read the book yet.
Hi there! Your name came up in my top 50 most common library. I actually just moved to Minneapolis a few months ago and looked at the Minnesota Literacy Council website. I'm thinking of volunteering. What is your favorite book store here? I really like Magers and Quinn.
