Sobre mimI have volunteered and worked in libraries since I was 9 and currently work in an academic library as a cataloger. I was raised on books by my dear Mom and have worked in libraries really since the 5th grade. It's in the blood.

Aside from books and reading I also like film, mythology, folktales, animation, comic books, Corgis, and hedgehogs.

My favorite book is certainly All Quiet on the Western Front and my favorite authors include Neil Gaiman, Donna Jo Napoli, Charles de Lint, Karen Cushman, Poe, Roger Ebert, and Jane Yolen. I'm an eager collector of novels based on fairy tales, and I love Terry Pratchett's Discworld series and Charles de Lint's Newford books.

Sobre a minha bibliotecaI'm a compulsive book-hoarder and have had to give up on frequenting used-book stores (Borders and Barnes & Noble are out of the question!) until I make a hole in the unread books that take up most of my closet.

The genres I tend to gravitate to are fantasy, children's, YA, mythic fiction, fairy tale fantasy, books about books, and I'm recently getting into ecological-themed nonfiction.

You may have also seen my collection Fairytale Adaptations. I have not read and do not own many of these unless otherwise noted. This is a project I am working on to create a complete list of retellings of fairy tales.

Noticed you liked As I Lay Dying, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also southern and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Here's a link to a summary (and a sample chapter)in case you'd like to read more about the novel before you commit:

Thanks,

Thanks! I think we have a lot of the same reading interests ;)
You're too kind - I loved your list of "sorta fairytale" tags and the retold fairy tales! I definitely see that as a category for a reading challenge next year (although I hope it's not 10/10/10!)

:)

Thanks for the add back!
You're welcome, Laura!
I've already requested holds on some of your recommendations
and I'm looking forward to sampling more from your library.
Take care.
Because of your review, I decided to make Enchantment my next Audible download. I'm in the final 4th of the book now, and it's very good so far. Thanks for doing the review. Otherwise I might not have bothered with it.
Hi,
I read in the Lost Girls discussion, that you like fairy tale adaptations. I see you have Fables, but did you ever see the comics by Frank Cammuso: Max Hamm Fairy Tale detective ? 4 comic books so far, a bit hard to find.
Then there are Loisel's Peter Pan comic books. The story of the flying boy told very differently.
Patrick Atangan retells Japanese folk tales in his Songs of our ancestors series in a comic style format.
I've changed my user name to jhwmsls
Thanks for the congrats (and sorry it's taken so long to write that!)

Do you know where you're going to school?

I have just radically changed my library, you might want to take me off your interesting libraries list. But we can stay in touch if you like!
Your name turns up all the time on my Connections and I thought I had added you to my Interesting Libraries! But I hadn't (have now!) Thanks for adding me to yours!
Thanks for adding me to your Interesting Libraries, too, Laura! A few of the books on your list have quite intrigued me and may soon be added to my collection. ^_^

Fond Regards,
Alana
Just wanted to drop by and say thank you for the "Interesting Libraries" add. Plus, I ADORE your profile pic! Fizzgig is SO cute! LOL! :D
Thank you for introducing me to No Rest for the Wicked!
