That's a huge compliment, your comparing Black Tat to Jonathan Stroud's Bartimaeus trilogy: I loved those books, so thank you very much! Here in London (UK) I'm blushing a bit, but you've put a big smile on my face. :)
Thanks, too, for recommending Alfred Bester. I have read 'The Stars My Destination' and enjoyed it immensely, but since we're on a classic SF tip(!) have you tried 'Blood Music', by Greg Bear? It's about nanotechnology, and it's an astonishingly fresh and prescient treatment of the subject - particularly considering the book's now about twenty years old. I think it's terrific. It was a big inspiration for TIM, too - as you'll probably notice when that comes out next March. Hee hee hee! ;)
Thanks so much for getting in touch. I'm delighted you enjoyed Black Tat (and that you're recommending it to people in Birmingham, AL! -YAY!) but it's very kind of you to take the time to write and tell me so - much appreciated.
Very best wishes to you,
Sam
