Sobre mimI work at Lonely Planet's Melbourne office as a librarian. My work primarily involves competitor analysis, but I do maintain a small library of reference titles (see above) and a large collection of magazines.
I have a Ph.D. in English literature, which comes in handy when arguing with strangers at parties.

Sobre a minha bibliotecaThis is the work library. So it has all the Lonely Planet books, plus a selection of our competitors' guides (so we know what they are doing), and reference titles.

Hi, Mark
I've just found this website via google.
I'm very happy to see you have my Guide to Lebanon, even if it's tucked away under "competitors".
It's actually not a competitor as it's now well out of date because I'm not working/living in Lebanon now so I haven't ever had time to do the necessary travelling and research to update it.
Some info for your archives:
It's still the guide with most off-the-road stuff in Lebanon. Strange to say, even Lonely Planet doesn't offer as much in that respect.
Also, Hilary Bradt was braver than Lonely Planet as it was the first guide to be published on Lebanon after the "civil" war. Rough Guides and Lonely Planet turned me down because the war was still going on when I offered it to publishers. Hilary grabbed it and we waited 5 years to publish.
Good to meet you. Best regards. Lynda (Keen)
Hi Mark,

Does Lonely Planet buy travel memoirs for the library?

I have two new titles: Paris Dreams & Athens Apartment, both published by Persona Press in 2009.

Hi, I just joined this site. Are you a writer too?
Hi. You aren't the *publisher* Lonely Planet, are you?
