Hi lucienspringer,

Thank you for two delightful selections as my SantaThing gift. Since I don't celebrate Christmas, I didn't have to wait to open my gift. I tore into it as soon as it arrived. I've read neither of the books before and find both intriguing.

I started reading the Barthelme book yesterday and plan to take a long time reading it. The stories have many tangents (references to quite a few things with which I'm not familiar) which I have the option of exploring. I'm going to take advantage of that despite it most likely slowing down my reading a bit. I have a feeling that I'm going to truly love "digesting" these stories.

The Jesse Ball book looks fascinating. I am saving it for later because I want it to be the "dessert" of my SantaThing gift.

I much appreciate your thoughtful gift to me.

Happy holidays!

Madeline
Hi. Great reviews of 2666 and New Grub Street. I especially liked the concept of a descending arrow in the former.

Peace,
G

Hi:

Thanks for the Secret Santa presents. I was very impressed by your ability to hit the right notes, and yet avoid the obvious. I was not aware of the Charyn, and look forward to it, and am happy to have the Lardner in my library.

Thanks again,

Capybara_99

Hi!

I’m sending this note because you are a member of the Seattleites group.

A few of us are starting a book club and I hope that you will consider joining us.

Our first book is In the Woods by Tana French. Our first meeting will be on Thursday, October 2nd, at Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park at 7pm.

See our thread called Book Clubs? on the Seattleites group or you can reply to me if you want more info.

Thanks - Carol
Hi, I just read the book about you. It has been 30 years, I hope you came to your senses. (just kidding around).
Stopping by to mention that I really liked your self-deprecating refections on Imaginative Qualities of Actual Things.
Hi, I noticed a few chess titles in your catalog and thought you might like to check my forum site out, www.ChessForums.org, thanks, Greg
