1. How long are you a member?
Since December 2006
2. Where did you find Librarything?
I honestly don't remember.
3. Which motivation drove you when you subscribed?
Keeping my books organized and findng suggestions.
4. You have your own library on Librarything. Why do you think it’s important for you to put all your books online?
There are a lot of boos Iw ant to read, and there are a lot of books i own that ihaven't read yet. Thre's no sense buying a copy of something i already own!
5. Librarything.com is also a social network. Do you like and use the social applications in it?
Not really. The "connections" function doesn't really seem to work, and there's only one person I know in real life who has admitted to using LibraryThing.
6. What do you think it is the most usefull in Librarything?
Peronally, I love the Early Reviewers. i have a chance at reading brand-new books and can find out which books are good before they even hit the shelves.
7. If you have to browse books or to look for a specific book, or if you just feel like reading and look for a book would you prefere looking at Librarything.com or something else (like f.i. bookstores, books review at the “real” library)? Why?
If I'm just browsing, I prefere the brick-and-mortat library -- I can pick up the books and take them home right away, at no cost. If I'm looking for something specific, LibraryThing is one of several places I check.
8. Do you use tags, reviews, rates and suggestions to try to understand what kind of book is a book you’re looking at on LT? If you do, how?
Not really.
9. Have you ever discovered an author or a title you really love through LT?
Not that I recall.
10. Have you ever got in touch with an author through LT?
Not yet, though I might like to.
11. If you could improve Librarything, what would you change?
Get the connections function fixed!
Hi again,

I am so sorry to hear you've had trouble. I would be happy to send a note to my friends here to see if one of them will respond. If you'd like me to do that, please let me know. My wife might also help, but we share an account, so it might not help much. In any case, good luck!

1. How long are you a member?

About 4 years.

2. Where did you find Librarything?

Through a basic Google search.

3. Which motivation drove you when you subscribed?

My wife and I had just gotten married, and we both had large libraries. We'd both lived alone in three-bedroom houses for years, and as you can imagine, they were full. So combining households was a chore. We were both afraid of losing books, so this seemed like a good way to keep track of what we have.

4. You have a very big library on Librarything. Why do you think it’s important for you to put all your books online?

For me, I think of it is the old masculine trophy urge. Just about every man I know has some sort of urge for a trophy ... literal sports trophies, large house, expensive car, animal head on the all. For me, it's my library, of which I am very proud. Of course, we are only about 2/3 finished! For my wife, Carol, I think it's pure organization and a way to see what we actually have.

5. Librarything.com is also a social network. Do you like and use the social applications in it?

I do LIKE them, and intend to use them more. I haven't much yet, though. But I just (today!) joined several discussion boards, and I look forward to browsing tonight. My own book comes out in October, so it'll be fun to see what people say about it. The main reason I haven't yet is that when I come here, I really need to be cataloging!

6. What do you think it is the most usefull in Librarything?

Cataloging and tagging!

7. If you have to browse books or to look for a specific book, or if you just feel like reading and look for a book would you prefere looking at Librarything.com or something else (like f.i. bookstores, books review at the “real” library)? Why?

I really like bookstores a lot; I like getting out, seeing all the selections, and seeing people ... I usually go with a friend or two. But here, I can see what people treasure, and that's a help, too. There are many kindred spirits here, even ones I may never meet, and I think that's wonderful.

8. Do you use tags, reviews, rates and suggestions to try to understand what kind of book is a book you’re looking at on LT? If you do, how?

Not as much as I would like. Once we finish the cataloging ... ;-)

9. Have you ever discovered an author or a title you really love through LT?

Yes! I found two books with similar titles here: The Name of the Wind and The Shadow of the Wind. Both were marvelous.

10. Have you ever got in touch with an author through LT?

No. Not yet, anyway.

11. If you could improve Librarything, what would you change?

I might add other media ... CDs, DVD, etc. But it's kind of nice having a pure book site.

Good luck, and I hope that helps.
I'd be delighted to help any time.
