Oct '09: I've joined the 1010 Challenge. Here is my thread.

Also racing to complete the 75 Books in 2009 Challenge.

Sobre a minha bibliotecaA combination of what I own and what I've read -- still in development. I've added many books from my childhood, many of which I still have tucked away. If I remember reading them, I'll add my two cents in a review. Where I have tags reflecting a period of schooling (elementary, middle school, etc.), this is when I read the book -- not necessarily the recommended target age.

Hey missylc, There seems to be so many people on LT from the DC area. It looks like we have some similar tastes in books. I will keep an eye out for your thread in 2010.

Jennifer
Hello! There seems to be more of us from this area than I realized. ;)
Thought you might find this of interest.

Thanks. I just realised that I am a friend on FB but not here. DOH!
Noticed you liked The Glass Castle, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also about a dysfunctional family and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary (and a sample chapter) in case you'd like to learn a little more about the book before you commit:

Hi Missy, thanks for your comment. I am indeed from Montgomery County, first North Chevy Chase and later Rockville. Have been in NC over 30 years now, though. It seems there are at least twice as many people in Montgomery County as there were in my day. How do you like the eastern shore after living in SS? I've ever spent time in Easton but I've been to Cambridge a couple of times long ago.
updated the Green Dragon Get Together (Mid-Atlantic) info!
check the pub and please offer feedback.
Did you know that Scrabulous has been replaced with Lexulous on Facebook???
Same exact game :)
I felt like a kid at Christmas.
heh
The little devils like curtains..

keep your eyes peeled :P
*grateful*
*hug* I know this isn't exactly the GD, but I did come in from the appreciation thread over there. I hope your year'll perk up soon!
Hey,

Of all things it is Cowboyneal and to the left of that is slashdot. I have no idea why, it makes no sense to me.

Any ideas?

Carrie
Thanks so much for your information on licensing - I had no idea that was an option. I've had my MLS for 5 years and work as a public reference librarian, but am always curious about new ways to use my degree.

Best of luck with your career.

Mary
Amazingly enough, I got the cheeses at Martin's on S. Pleasant Valley Road. The ladies in the deli were super-nice and helped me pick a great variety of cheeses.

Again, so glad you could make it to the get-together!

That was fast!
If you really enjoy Fforde's worth his website is also worth checking out - very funny. A few really dedicated fans have deciphered all the books pointing out the source for all the names/facts/puns it's amazing how manay I'd missed.
Thanks for the input on the mystery book club at White Oak Library. Sorry you moved to away. But I hear Easton is pretty cool. Is that where you live now? I have been there once I think.
An odd coincidence - just surfing profiles and noticed that you & I joined LT on the same day. Just thought I'd take a moment to commemorate that fact.

... And the moment's gone.

Cheers ;)
OK, saw your post in the what did you have to eat thread, and I thought - "How do you say that name?" I concluded you are Miss Slick. Am I right? and is it slick as in Gracie Slick or slick as in "you think yo're slick?"

Are you a librarian or a librarian in training?

Don't mind my rude questions, I am incurably curious.
You're so cool. When people see you walking down the street they say, Damn! That's one cool chick! ;) Thanks again.
Thanks for all your info! I just got into the 601 online class with Hahn. So I can keep the class with Ozga and I will take LBSC 690 in the spring.
Finally, a social networking site I can really enjoy! Thanks for the invite, sis!
Thanks for your posted review/recommendation regarding Michener"s Alaska...I recently took it with me on a 7-day Alaskan cruise...it was a great enhancement...

Best...Steve Tempo
missylc,

I cannot thank you enough for your post on the "Name That Book" group. I have been trying to find out the name of "I Would If I Could" forever. You have solved a great mystery for me. I read that book a million times when I was little. The version I always checked out of the Baltimore County Public Library was a hard cover with a blue spine with a picture of a girl with pigtails who had just fallen off her bicycle. You have made my day and my whole weekend!

Are you originally from MD? I am and now live in Southern PA, just over the MD/PA line. My best friend graduated from UM's library science master's program about ten years ago and, after working her way up, is about to start a new job as a branch manager in the Carroll County library system. Good luck with your studies!
