Thanks! The feeling is mutual. I love the term Scobberlotch and have been finding ways to work it into conversations for the last several months. It's great reading about things from an author's perspective, and I really appreciate your participation in the book blogging community.

I just finished The Old Man and the Sea. Maybe it was a bit of a cheat to start there as it's so short, but I really enjoyed it. Thanks for the recommendation!

I just noticed that your earlier message asked about Joanne Harris. I must admit I'm not as much of a fan as I once was. I think Chocolat is a truly brilliant book and I was equally keen on Blackberry Wine but I felt after that, that either the books started to go downhill a bit or maybe I had just got used to them. I do like that slightly magical feel to a book though and there are a couple of other writers who have a similar touch - A Jarful of Angels by Babs Horton is one that I'm not sure I completely understand but that has that lovely dreamy feel, so is Knowledge of Angels by Jill Paton Walsh. I think Salley Vickers has a similar touch too - especially in Miss Garnet's Angel and The Other Side of You. All of these are sligtly religious/spiritual books which I must immediately admit that I am not, but that doesn't mean I can't love the stories!

I will most definitely check out Elizabeth Berg. She's easy to find in yard sales, etc... so it won't take me long. Now, if I could only schedule her in... ;)

I read about your novel on LisaMM's blog (if I recall, her sister has the same name as you); what a coincidence to get your invite this morning.
I'm curious as to what on my profile "triggered" your invite ... earlier this week (in the TuesdayThingers post for 6/24) that I don't tend to invite people as friends on LT, that I'm more likely to communicate via the forums or commenting on blogs (hoping that doesn't make me antisocial, I've concluded that it's part of the anonimity I prefer ... although I just posted a pic of me at an author reading I attended, no more hiding behind a curtain!)

Hello Writergirl! Thank you for the invite! I'm very flattered that you picked me out as I don't recall we've had much contact so far (am I wrong?) but it's so nice to be asked - I hope I've somehow done something to deserve it. You may want to rescind that invite when I confess that I've never read any Hemingway (shame! Mea culpa!) but maybe fate has sent you as I've lately been thinking I probably should. Any suggestions what I should start with?

I was just reading about your novel when you responded and life is full of coincidences. I'm currently reading Escape by Robert Tanenbaum and of the two main story lines, one is about a woman with PPD who murdered her three children. Your novel sounds very interesting and I'm going to keep my eye out for it. I got hit pretty hard with PPD after my 3 year old was born. I never got to the point where I wanted to hurt my kids, but I certainly wished God would take me more times than I care to remember. Are both of your children girls? What are their names?

Hi Karen,
Are you requesting any of the latest batch of ER books? I'm requesting A Week in October and Inglorius. Do you think it's better to request a lot of them, or just one or two? I got one from the April batch (I requested a bunch of them) and another in May (I only requested two). Those are the only two months I've requested. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.

Hi Karen, you found me! Thanks for the invite. I was thinking, oh shoot! We don't have that many books in common! And then I saw that you don't have that many entered into your account, so now I don't feel so bad.

#2 I would have a hard time living without those things too.. but I could get by as long as there was chocolate.

#5. Those quotes. I'm going to guess Haaaaaat Paaaahhhketttt is actually Hot Pockets- the frozen sandwich snack thingy? And the quote is I believe from the bible- isn't it? New Testament?

Hi Karen,
Thanks for the friend invite. I didn't know you were a Hemingway fan. His work (and life) were an inspiration to me from when I first read Farewell to Arms at the age of 14. That was a long, long, long time ago. When my wife and I visited his house in Key West a couple of years ago, I literally got all teary-eyed just looking into the loft where he worked.
