I'm not quite a librarian yet, but I'm getting there! I'm fleurdiabolique on Twitter, too.

In the interest of full disclosure: I'm already having a difficulty keeping up with everyone I'm following on Twitter, so I don't always follow everyone back who follows me. If you follow me and I don't reciprocate, I don't mean to be rude -- I'm just trying to keep my online life manageable!

I go by jmgold on twitter, although my posts tend not to be all that library focused for what it's worth.

I'm marfita on Twitter when it isn't busy hoisting cetaceans. Also on Plurk (ugly name). I'm on FriendFeed as well, but the moniker (if not marfita) escapes me at the moment. Can't believe that there are marfitas out there who are quicker off the mark than I am!

I am a part time librarian for a public library. I know we have twitter and our main county branch recommends its use, but I'm not clear on what it is. Some discussion I have heard about it in my library has been positive and some not.

I don't tend to write directly about my job, but I'm vjb... Mostly, I use it to keep in touch with real-life friends, and follow other librarians writings or conference notes.

Hi, I'm saxhorn on twitter and facebook, too. I work for the Omaha Public Library ending 6 mos. as a Public Service Assistant (computers) and beginning as a Clerk. I've been a HS and college band director for several years, and then decided to have a mid-life crisis. Now my question is: "Why didn't I investigate being a librarian years ago?" I really love this work, and have recently begun my MLS at the University of Missouri online with a F2F component in Omaha.

I'm november17dee. I just signed up for twitter but have yet to find much use for it since no one I know personally is on. Who knows... maybe I'll start. I should also up my librarything presence while I'm at it...

I've been using Twitter for a while. (ID: Beltashazam) I put a widget on our library web site to shoot quick news and offhand cleverness onto the main page. But at that time Twitter was so slow on the rebound, I replaced it with stuff I just type into the html and upload to the server, which works out fine. I do keep a Twitter widget on my personal web site, where I mostly use it to tell what I'm reading or how many stars I give a movie ("4 stars for Mamet's Redbelt"). Doing the Following and Followers thing isn't so important for me in the Twitter context. After all, there's email, IM, LT, Second Life, people I see every day at the library...enough!

As a former 'webmaster' for a public library, it's interesting to see how other libraries incorporate social media into its website. Our library is slowly incorporating some of the web2.0 technology. As a potential YA librarian, I'm wondering how to use Twitter to get kids back into the library. There is little attendance at one branch for the programs. The kids(pre-teens & teens) do come in for the computers though. I'm wondering how effective Twitter is for promoting a library's YA programs. Any suggestions or comments?
