I've recently finished reading 'An Imperfect Offering' by James Orbinski and found the book fascinating! I'm looking to read more on this topic, and right now I have few other books lined up waiting to be read:
-Getting to Maybe (Wesley)
-War Hospital (Fink)
-The Life you can Save (Singer)
I'm wondering if anybody is also interested in this topic and can recommend other books? I've also watched some great documentaries, but can't get 'Triage' also by James Orbinski. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Not to belabor the point, but I emphatically third Mountains Beyond Mountains! It really is a life-changing book. I'm a newcomer to librarything, so hello all!
Thank you for the replies- I decided to actually buy Mountains Beyond Mountains! My 'to read' list keeps getting longer :)
Three Cups of Tea is interesting and timely. The writing is dry, but the story is amazing. k4k
Emergency Sex is about UN peacekeeping missions, but if that's close enough to humanitarian aid for you, I thought it was *fantastic*.
Welcome aboard, SNS101. Welcome to the most addicting site on the internet!
If you fancy a change of pace I recommend
Helen Fielding's Cause Celeb. This is a humorous novel about the "cause of the moment" popular among celebrities. But I do think it has some valid points about humanitarian aid.
Thank you, MerryMary! Haha, yes, I'm quickly realizing exactly how hard it is to tear myself away from this website!
And I just bought 3 Cups of Tea, so that's now on my TBR list!
