The Black Echo? That was thriller that I dismissed unread because I no longer enjoy police-detective-investigates-friend's-d... novels. I want either such extensive coincidence that it is a key feature or no significant coincidences in big city police procedurals.

That's it TheoClarke. I'm reading The Black Echo at the moment and must confess that it hasn't really captured my interest to any great extent yet - and I'm about a third of the way through it now. Do you know if Michael Connelly gets better as the series progresses? I'm really more of a European 'whodunit' enthusiast, but like to read some USAn crime fiction occasionally - it's so exotic. Incidentally, I recently read an interesting one from my own country (Australia) called The Broken Shore by Peter Temple.
