I've never been one for house-elves or SPEW, so it contributes to my dislike of pieces of Goblet of Fire, as well, although the resurrection scenes in the latter is still quite good, and it has my favorite scene with the Dursleys. Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone ...

... The Prisoner of Azkaban for a long time, since that's the place I first became emotionally involved in the series, but The Goblet of Fire has overtaken it as #1 Favourite over the past couple of readings. It's just so cool. I really loved The Half-Blood Prince too, though... I ...

... Potter was Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, it was the first one I read. My favorite of the series is still Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Viktor Krum is my favorite character out of the Harry Potter series (other than Harry himself) and I'm still waiting for him to make a ...

I loved and still do The Goblet of Fire. And the rest are as follows... 4,6,3,2,1,5 There was something about The Order of the Phoenix that disappointed me, however, I did really like that Harry seemed to be a normal teenager--angst and all in this one.

... reliable gauge for the general consensus (and reasonably close to what is emerging here) Prisoner of Azkaban: 4.42 Goblet of Fire: 4.35 Half-Blood Prince: 4.34 Order of the Phoenix: 4.19 Sorcerer's Stone: 4.19 Chamber of Secrets: 4.04 I'd note that generally, Rowling's ...

... that the writing is steadily improving with each book. I don't think I could lean to just one. I would be stuck between goblet of fire and half-blood prince.

Probably Goblet of Fire, which just about tops Philosopher's Stone for me. Because I'm a Diana Wynne Jones fan I initially responded to the first book in a different way than I might have done (feeling the similarities to Witch Week and Charmed Life rather keenly), but over time I've ...

I'm so obssesed by the books and the story that I can't really tell. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is definetly one of them, but I can't say I didn't love the Order of the Phoenix and the Half-Blood Prince as much...

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, hands down. I enjoyed the first three, but it wasn't until the 4th that I was irrevocably hooked! If I were to put them in order, I'd say 4, 6, 1, 5, 3, 2.

... . What's your favorite Harry Potter book so far? I'm torn: I loved Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban, but the Goblet of Fire was the one that surprised me the most. (Especially because I'd been spoiled for the 6th book) What about you guys?

... 2nd and 3rd books. What's your favorite book so far? I'm torn, I loved Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban but The Goblet of Fire was the one that surprised me the most (especially because I was spoiled for the 6th book).

... look for the Harry Potter group=) I started reading the books when I was twelve. That was in 2000, before the release of Goblet of Fire. I read the first one in my native language, Norwegian, but the rest of them I bought in English (much cheaper for a 12 year-old). I'm glad I did, because ...

... late to get into Harry. I just didn't want to read something with that much hype... I finally caved in the summer that Goblet of Fire came out, and I've been seriously hooked ever since. I've even waited in line for 6+ hours for the last 2 books to come out, so I'd be among the first to ...

... The Sorcerer's Stone on a whim, and was hooked. I ran out and bought the next two books, as well as ordering a copy of The Goblet of Fire, and have become a devoted fan. As for the seventh book -- which I would also like JK Rowling to finish tomorrow -- I would be surprised if Dumbledore ...

Same here. I resisted my entire family's urgings until Goblet of Fire was out. Then on a family trip we listened to Sorcerer's Stone in the car, and I was bowled over by Jim Dale's performance. After that, I had devoured the other three books within a week or two. And yes, after seeing the ...

... couldn't rule out ever coming back. I'll take that and hope for the best :-). I actually didn't start reading them until Goblet of Fire came out; the hype surrounding its release was enough to make me curious and I was a committed fan since then. I prefer the books to the movies, however; too ...
