... if a bit outdated, look at some endangered species. I've certainly learned a lot I didn't know before. I also started in on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix this week.

To add to the fray, I'm going to have to cast my vote for it as favorite thus far. I wasn't crazy about Order of the Phoenix , but I thought the lack of explanation behind Umbridge's evilness made her a more interesting and complex character.
It goes without saying, I ...
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
OMG! I think the longest book I've ever read was Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix which I believe had 800+ pages. I can't imagine reading (not to mention writing) a book with over 1100. Currently reading Once a Wolf by Susan Krinard which is a mere 388 pages.
If you're interested in the upcoming Order of the Phoenix movie, www.the-trio.com has the trailer and a behind the scenes clip. I can't wait to see this movie!
The Prisoner Of Azkaban is defintely my favourite, with The Half-Blood Prince a close second. But I didn't think that Order of the Phoenix was that bad. I agree with JBookLover, Chamber of Secrets was my least favourite too.

... (other than Harry himself) and I'm still waiting for him to make a re-appearance.
I was alarmed by how Harry acted in Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix the first time I read it, but after reading it a second (third and fourth) time I understood why he was acting the way he was a ...
Prisoner of Azkaban, without doubt. I HATED Order of the Phoenix I thought that book was incredibly pointless.
... because the ending really surprised me and of course, the introduction of Lupin.
On the flipside, I truly hated Order of the Phoenix simply because I felt that Harry whined throughout the entire book and that gets old really really quickly
I loved and still do The Goblet of Fire. And the rest are as follows...

There was something about The Order of the Phoenix that disappointed me, however, I did really like that Harry seemed to be a normal teenager--angst and all in this one.
The LT ranking gabriel posted was pretty much identical to the way I feel, except I like Sorcerer's Stone more than Order of the Phoenix . I'm rereading the series now though, so my opinion may have changed from the last time I read the books. It's been years since I read some of them.
Difficult question there - Prisoner of Azkaban first I think (Lupin!) and probably Order of the Phoenix next - as much as I poked fun at the angst!Harry.
I'm afraid that Half Blood Prince really didn't work quite as well for me - though mostly because of the feeling that all of a sudden, ...

... that I can't really tell. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is definetly one of them, but I can't say I didn't love the Order of the Phoenix and the Half-Blood Prince as much...
I was caught up in the cultural zeitgeist , but I held off buying the hardbacks till Order of the Phoenix . At that point I couldn't stand waiting the extra 10-12 months for the paperback.
