Emma is content. She's got a promising career in front of her, great friends, and a pretty amazing family. But her love life has been a little lacking lately. That's when fate steps in, and she crashes into a tall, dark and handsome man-Teren Adams. He's single, successful, an extraordinary gentleman, but he's also secretive. And some of his secrets are more unusual than most people's. For instance, he's a "little bit" vampire. He has fangs, incredible hearing, unbelievable speed, and, on occasion, he enjoys drinking a steaming cup of blood. But he's also very much alive. He has a heartbeat, loves steak as well as cappuccinos, and has no problems walking around during the day. Since Teren acts human the majority of the time, the pros far outweigh the cons in Emma's book. But when it becomes apparent that Teren's condition is much more serious than he first lets on, and that being in a relationship with him requires more sacrifices than most would be willing to make, will Emma stay? Is love enough to compensate for a life that will never be anywhere near normal? But then again...what's normal anyway?… (mais)

Great story - it made you laugh, wonder, and almost cry, an emotional story. The kidnapping defiantly took me by surprise. Good character development, a little repetitive, good plot - overall very enjoyable story ( )

I absolutely love S.C. Stephens' writing style. Her characters are well thought out. Her storylines are absolutely the best and the way she puts a story together leaves me breathless. Can't wait to read the rest of the series. Thank you S.C. Stephens for your beautiful stories. ( )

I can't say I would recommend this book. The story was okay, the overall plot sounded intriguing. But the writing was not great, the repetitiveness of the main character's thoughts was frustrating and, in the end, I just really didn't like the book. In my opinion, this would be a good fanfiction story, but it's not OF novel quality.

The plot wasn't too bad, but the author definitely overused the phrase: "she smacked him on the arm/chest/shoulder/stomach". For me, that disrupted the flow while I was reading. I get it, Emma was put out. No need to over-emphasize that fact.

It's no surprise that I once again like the male character over the female one. It's probably because they try so hard to be something better for the woman they've set their sights on, yet the women always come across as overbearing. I can appreciate a healthy dose of self confidence, self preservation or trepidation, but her stubbornness and insecurities didn't really appeal to me. Anyway, Emma finds out what Teren really is, and she slowly accepts his nature in order to be with him. Until they visit his parents/family.

To keep their bloodline going and hopefully "water down" the vampire genetics with each new generation, his family springs the surprise on Emma before Teren can tell her. Out of everything else she's learned, that seems to be the deal breaker.

Up until the end of the first book, Emma is committed to being with him, but she's constantly fearful for her life around him and his impending change. Not to mention she's easily put off at the sight of him drinking animal blood.

A dangerous situation led to a heart wrenching moment, but they overcame it together. I think it made Emma realize a lot of things, about herself and about him. It may have helped her finally see clearly for the first time. The ending was a little creepy (again with the family), but it left off on a good note. I'll still give the sequel a try because it's there and my curiosity is getting the better of me. ( )
