( )This is the first in a series of books by V.C. Andrews. It is a somewhat eerie story about four brothers and sisters that become hidden away in an attic as they are growing up. The children struggle through growing up, finding love and acceptance, and death. As a young reader I loved these books and reread them many times. (Kristy, Fall 2009) The county's board of education decided to remove all school curriculum materials and library books containing any and all "profanity" and "pornography," both concepts ill-defined. The tremendous public outcry made the board backtrack and resolve to review its selection policy. However, after this conciliatory decision, and while the review process still inches along, most of the books in Andrews's popular series Flowers in the Attic were removed from the high-school library for "pornographic" content This was the book that got me into reading. Before, I would fail on projects in school because I either never read the book, or the book being read aloud to us just wasn't interesting enough and I would block it out. A book about four children locked away for a long period of time for their mother to gain wealth. How they survive the long days without anyone but themselves. I loved this book and recommend everyone reads it. The four children have perfect lives in a happy, golden family. Suddenly their father dies and the children now live alone, hidden in an airless attic. Their mother promised they would stay only long enough for her to inherit the fortune but gradually she forgets how much she adored them. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
