Easy to read short stories with Gordanius solving various mysteries. Some of the mysteries are easily solved; others not. This was a pleasant departure from the regular Finder novels, sort of like a palate cleanser. A lot of Roman culture is contained in each story, which I really enjoyed. ( )

Steven Saylor es un erudito artista a la hora de describir la eterna, fascinante y perversa ciudad de Roma, escenario de muchas de las aventuras de Gordiano, aunque algunas de sus investigaciones también llevan al lector a Hispania, Sicilia, la bahía de Nápoles, e incluso más allá de las fronteras de Italia.

A collection of short stories all starring our favourite, ancient Finder, Gordianus. Normally I am not a fan of shorts, but these were all good. Rich and detailed, plus, clearly, short stories, with a beginning and end. They also wove together well historical facts and known characters. ( )

A great collection of Gordianus short stories. Better than the first collection, I would say. Especially enjoyed "If A Cyclops Could Vanish in the Blink of an Eye" about Bethesda and a cat, but really they are all good stories that get right to the interesting action. Great to learn more about little bits of Roman life. ( )

Okay story. Obviously this is one of the shorter, in-between-the-series book, so it doesn't have so much depth. However, it was fun reading about the gladiators and learning all about their environment, living conditions, etc. Good enough read, but wasn't my favorite or anything. ( )
