Plot Summary: There are two Harolds and two Georges (from the previous book) who take turns going to school and doing homework. But when the gym teacher gets exposed to part of the super genius planet that exploded, he becomes a super genius and makes a special gas that only kids can breathe in that will make them complaint, quiet, and follow any direction given to them by a grown up. Harold and George are shocked when the other Harold and George come home from school acting completely different and they are determined to solve the problem, with the help of Captain Underpants of course.

Personal Thoughts: I think this is the second Captain Underpants book I've ever read, but the first one was so long ago I can't really remember. I was impressed that adult Harold had a husband and it was just accepted by all as if it was no big deal.

We really liked this one!! It was straight forward, clever, and super funny. The song title variations made me laugh and caused more than a few episodes of bad singing during story time! Fun, laughs, and neatly tied up. Well done! ( )

My boys LOVE the Captain Underpants series and have read all the books but this is the first one I’ve read. I was actually pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t nearly as gross as a thought it would be and had some adult humor thrown in that would probably go over most kids heads. For instance, one of the teachers is named Miss Anthrope. There were also some big words (e.g. megalomaniac) that can build up kids’ vocabularies. Lastly, I loved that there is a same-sex couple and people of different races in this book.

I’m not sure my 11 year old cared about any of that. He just thought it was hilarious. And that’s okay too. ( )
