Spider Game is the 12th book in the Ghostwalkers series. Trap has always been aloof and cold, but when he finally meets the woman that Whitney has paired him with, he knows his life is about to change forever. Cayenne fears what she feels for Trap since he released her from her prison in Whitney's compound, but she stays close because she senses the connection that has been programed into both of them.
I have truly loved all of the Ghostwalker books until this one, which I found to be a disappointment. The premise of Cayenne being one of the Ghostwalkers as a spider hybrid was well executed, but there wasn't enough of a story for 424 pages. Many, many sex scenes started to feel like page fillers by midway through the book, and this story didn't have the political edge that has been evident in the other books in this series. Trap's odd mood swings and temper made the story even more puzzling. Overall, a decent story, but not nearly up to the quality of previous books in the series. ( )

The Cajun dive in the middle of the godforsaken swamps wasn’t exactly Trap Dawkins’ idea of fun. But the GhostWalker wasn’t there for a good time. He was looking for her. Cayenne. Because what’s inside her is hard to control—especially when it’s aroused by a lover as reckless as Trap. ( )

I would have rated 5 starts but there was some really asinine behavior from Trap that really struck me wrong, otherwise it was a great read. Compelling, some good funny moments, great visits by past characters and expanding the story arc.

Wow, just flowed into another "alpha male" book with a demand for sucking cock. Can we do anything else? Makes it easier to skim read when its just five or six pages of sex. The bio-engineering aspect was interesting if implausible. Sigh. May be ending this series as well. I've given up on the "Dark" series. ( )
