An epic finale that went beyond my wildest dreams, each word heavy with meaning, each scene a crucial puzzle piece in a picture that kept coming together with striking force until the very last page, leaving me literally quivering in its aftermath. I remain incapable of letting go of Gideon and Eva just yet as I slowly come to terms with all the unexpected, touching turns in their story, but I am smiling through my tears, grateful for the way this book truly honoured them for the iconic characters they will forever remain in my eyes. Bravo!

Ultimo capitolo (finalmente) di una storia che, se nei precedenti quattro libri era riuscita a mantenersi su livelli pressoché accettabili, in questo finale degenera totalmente perdendosi in situazioni esagerate e, soprattutto, prive di un qualsiasi senso logico.
Senza voler entrare nel dettaglio al fine di evitare qualsiasi spoiler, dico solo che la parte finale, in tutti i diversi aspetti, è completamente assurda, incongruente nonché irrazionale e scritta solo con l’intento di stupire ad ogni costo ma riuscendo unicamente, invece, a rendere il tutto abbastanza ridicolo. Inoltre, alcune situazioni – anche importanti - restano in sospeso, quasi abbandonate a loro stesse, tanto da farmi pensare che la Day non sapesse più come cavarsela avendo perso oltre che l’ispirazione anche la voglia di scrivere un finale accettabile per questa storia.
Scritto sulla scia delle 50 Sfumature di cui segue a grandi linee lo schema di base, la serie comincia a dimostrare i suoi anni e, se da un lato i personaggi e la storia sembrano ancora intriganti, di certo la componente erotica risulta piuttosto esagerata e ridondante e appesantisce notevolmente la fluidità della vicenda risultando, per di più, in alcuni casi, del tutto ridicola e caricaturale. Un gioco di esagerazioni sotto tutti i punti di vista per una serie che si colloca tra le vicende inverosimili che nulla hanno a che vedere con la realtà, ma che possono risultare piacevoli e intriganti se letti per svago e con occhio benevolo.
Tre stelle - ma proprio molto stiracchiate - per una serie che, nel complesso, non è riuscita a convincermi e che ricorderò soprattutto per le eccessive esagerazioni di tutte le componenti del libro, a cominciare da quella erotica che, in alcune parti, riesce anche a scadere nel ridicolo.

There were parts I loved and other parts I hated. Does that sound like I am confused? Well, I guess I am a little.
For me, it started off slow. I understand Sylvia Day had a lot of strings to tie up. I liked the way most of them got resolved. I didn't like the way she handled Eva's mother towards the end of the book. I also didn't like the way the Lucas's ended. To me, it would have been better if she had put the words she used for Eva's mother into the situation with the Lucas's, Gideon relationship with his family, and Cary's relationship with Trey, they would have been put to better use.
I loved the changes in both Eva and Gideon. Their relationship is hot, steamy and erotic.
For the most part, I think the story was well written.
