Kat Martin is the author I go to when I need a little spice in my life. Her stories are legendary. She mixes every genre from romance to action, to temptation. What I response to with Ms. Martin is that no two stories are the same. Some are more emotional than suspenseful but still have that something that makes me respond to her novels. Into the Whirlwind is the first chance I had to experience her Boss, Inc series. A mother willing to risk everything for her child and the man that holds the key to her past, could be the answer to her present. I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review. Into the Whirlwind is full of sizzle and packed with suspense. An exciting read that gets better and better. ( )

I really like the cover. But I think I would have enjoyed the story more if I had read the first in the Boss series by Kat Martin. There are references to the fashion show that Dirk and Meg apparently met as bodyguard and client. Then she dumped him. There is quite a bit of repetition in the dialogue, which is somewhat simplistic. The setting of a child being kidnapped , for me, is a challenge to generate sexual tension and romance. Overall this was a miss for me although the action picks up in the second half of the book.

Torture, kidnappings, suspense and drama abound in the second BOS Inc. novel. This time Meg and Dirk are given a second chance at a happily ever after when Meg requests Dirk’s assistance in finding Charlie, her kidnapped 3 year old son.

This is definitely a page turner with plenty going on during the story but I have to say I was pretty sure who suggested the kidnapping fairly early on in the story. I also felt at times that too much was added in just to lengthen the story and add more drama that probably was not needed to clinch the deal between Dirk and Meg.

Meg seemed a bit too weak willed and unsure of herself for me to see her with Dirk until she started to tap into her earlier wild child and even then I had trouble believing that Luke and Dirk would have acceded to some of her requests to at times go along with them since she was not trained to do so.

If you like action-packed, suspense-filled, dramatic stories with a bit of steam and a whole lot going on this just might be a book you will enjoy. I did read book one in this series and enjoyed it but have to say that I enjoyed Kat’s book, Against the Tide, the best of all books I have read by her so far.
