Albom has created a type of form for all his books (the main character goes through some sort of life-changing event), but somehow it doesn't seem like form-writing. Especially in this book, he has created a story to make you want to improve your life by attaching you to believable and sympathetic characters. This is my second Mitch Albom book. My first was The Five People You Meet in Heaven, which I confess, I liked a bit more. This one was slower and less interesting. It was essentially one family's history with no suspense or action. I was kind of bored, but its a small book, so it was a quick read. It was very beautiful and inspirational to read though. I recommend it for Albom fans. I read this book in about an hour or two. This is the first Albom book I've read, but from what I understand, it seems his standard fair. A story about the importance of family and love, and appreciation for what we have on this earth. Overly sentimental, but it does the trick and pulls out a few tears. A quick read. I worked at Starbucks for a couple of years in high school, and read this book one evening after a shift while waiting for a ride home. What a piece of overly-sentimental tripe! The plot was predictable, the characters one-dimensional, and the narrator was someone I'd hope never to meet in real life. The so-called "inspirational message" at the center of the novel was as canned and cliched as anything one would expect to find in a Lifetime Original Movie. I haven't read anything else by Mitch Albom, so I can't pass judgement on the rest of his (apparently well-liked) work, but as to this one? If you enjoy watching the Hallmark Channel around Christmas, you might like this book. To anyone else, I'd recommend giving it a pass. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
