This book is an excellent primer on the field of information behavior. Unlike most textbooks, this book walks the fine line between being beyond the beginner and being patronizingly didactic. It is also a handy research tool with a glossary, author index, topic index, discussion questions, an extensive bibliography at the end of the book and recommended readings at the end of each chapter. The book has 13 chapters, which makes it perfect for assigning a chapter a week in the standard semester. This is definitely one of the most readable and interesting textbooks I've encountered in my academic career. ( )
