Someone is shooting the shifters in Bon Temps and the shifter population is suspicious of Sookie's brother, Jason, but someone is out for Sookie too. This book was decidedly ho-hum. It read like a dull, predictable repeat of the plots previously done in the series. Nothing is done to move the overarching plot forward, and the supposed mystery is pretty predictable. I have faith that this is a random dud in an overall good series though. ( )

An entry in the series that doesn't move the overarching plot forward much at all. I wouldn't mind that so much if this Sookie adventure was actually exciting, but it just didn't do anything for me. Maybe it's that the solution to the mystery was obvious to me, or that I'm just not feeling sympathetic toward Sookie anymore. (She's been whining a lot lately). I'm still holding out hope that the series will go back to its former glory in the next book, though.

Sookie doesn't have a steady love interest in this and she doesn't sleep with anyone (euphemistically speaking), but seven supernatural men are physically affectionate with her. Someone is shooting shapeshifters and Alcide gets Sookie involved with werewolf politics. And Lily Bard shows up with a companion trying to solve a case in which Sookie done it; a slightly strange crossover since Lily lives in a world without vampires and mind reading (at least so far). In this book Sookie Stackhouse must try and find out who's shooting the Shifters of Louisiana. Enjoyable, but not as riveting as some of Harris' other Stackhouse books. ( )

When Sookie's brother Jason's eyes start to change, she knows he's about to turn into a were-panther for the first time. But her concern becomes cold fear when a sniper sets his deadly sights on the local changeling population-and Jason's new panther brethren suspect he may be the shooter. Now, Sookie has until the next full moon to find out who's behind the attacks, unless the killer decides to find her first.
