First JC book I read and I was hooked, started collecting whatever I could find but made sure to read the reviews first. I loved it, the humor, the sass and wit, those are what I look for in a book aside from naughtily great sex scenes. Character development was good, a little mystery here and there. If you want a good read, don't take my word for it, just grab it and read it! ( )

I have to tell you to read Welcome to Temptation before you read this book. It introduces you to about half the characters in this book and you will enjoy it much more.

I have to say that I have lived by the doughnut/muffin rule for years now. I am very very lucky that I have finally found my muffin after many many doughnuts. ( )

Art, crime and comedy? odd mix, but it works. Mainly because no one else can pull these weirdos off like Crusie can. Also on a seperate note, I like the hardcover blurbs of Crusie's books so much better. the paperback covers made me put the books back so many times because I figured I wouldn't enjoy them. Silly, silly covers. ( )

A really well done, light-hearted romance with all the zaniness you'd expect from a Crusie novel. The plot does begin to wobble apart towards the end, because there was one rather large element which I found not at all convincing, but Crusie throws so much at you—hit men and art forgeries and split personalities and families of con artists—that you just have to go with it. I also loved that the main couple, Tilda and Davy, started out having utterly mediocre sex, and only started setting the house on fire once they really got to know one another. Highly recommended. At first it was a bit slow, and too many characters, with too many different names and under plots. But it grew on me. The main girl character reminds me of me, glasses, geeky, but adventorous. Really quirky chracters; her family and the art gallery, and who everyone was.

Setting: Columbus, Ohio

Sensuality: 7

Mural artist Tilda Goodnight is struggling to pay off the mortgage on the family business and keep the Goodnight secrets safely hidden. Juggling her life gets even more complicated when she hides in Clea Lewis's closet and collides with sexy Davy Dempsey. Tilda is in Clea's bedroom to steal back a forged painting; Davy's there to steal Clea's account codes and retrieve the $3 million the larcenous blonde stole from him. Somehow, Tilda finds herself exchanging a mind-blowing kiss with her fellow burglar, and when Davy follows her home and rents a room from her mother, she's forced to deal with the charming con man. Everyone in Tilda's world is pretending to be someone else, including her daydreaming mother, her split-personality sister, and her cross-dressing ex-brother-in-law. All of them, including Tilda and Davy, are Faking It. What will happen when all the secrets are out and everyone knows the truth about everyone else? Will Davy recover his 3 million? Will Tilda recover all the forged paintings and find her true artistic calling? Will Tilda's mother run off to Aruba with a hit man named Ford? And exactly what is the difference between a man labeled a "doughnut" and one who deserves the title "muffin"?

Faking It is a hilarious, warm novel with a cast of quirky and wonderful characters that endear while they charm. Readers who met the Dempsey siblings in Crusie's Welcome To Temptation will be delighted to revisit the family and discover what happens to Davy Dempsey when he meets his romantic nemesis, Tilda Goodnight. --Lois Faye Dyer
