Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald Read this in the 1950s, in the original 1930s edition. The publishers later saw fit to change it to a more straightforward chronology (they said Fizgerald always wondered why it was a comparative failure, and that must have been because of ...

Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald, read a long time ago

I have read Tender is the Night, and even better, I have a follow up that I am sure will not hold up the game: The Spy Who Came In from the Cold by John Le Carré.

Welcome back Ms. Eliza! I will make sure you know when I have finished up Tender is the Night, whether you can respond right away or not. We're all glad to hear from you.

On next to Tender is the Night............which I was hoping to discuss a bit with girlunderglass but I haven't seen her around much and can't seem to locate a new thread?!?!?! Where, oh, where has she gone?

Tender is the Night was excellent. I read a couple other books by Fitzgerald a long time ago (like in high school). Loved Gatsby, didn't like anything else. Decided to try again, and I'm glad I did. This was really beautiful and sad and lingers in my mind. The main characters were well-drawn (peri ...

Started Tender is the night yesterday; excellent atmospherics! It's 'fuller' than The Great Gatsby and I think I'll like this one slightly less; Gatsby was fantastic in its dry minimalism.

15. Tender is the Night--Very slow-going, and I failed entirely to connect emotionally with the characters. F. Scott Fitzgerald is not my favorite. 16. People of the Book--Good, but not as gripping as I'd hoped. 17. The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie--Fabulous, with the most ...

The hotel and it's bright, tan prayer rug of a beach were one. Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Always puts me right there on that beach. #30 - Mary, that line always make me feel sad. #44 - Poor Snoopy. But I do love that first line.

#169, 170 I was so impressed, I hadn't heard much about it so I assumed it was mediocre. Not a bit of it. 43 Tender is the Night by F Scott Fitzgerald. Good book. Longer and less eventful than The Great Gatsby, but still worthy of being called a classic. Deals mainly with the the ...

Finished Child 44 this morning, which I loved. Now I've gone for a complete change of pace with Tender is the Night by F Scott Fitzgerald, which I'm deep into already and thoroughly enjoying.

I once found a $20 bill in a copy of Tender is the Night I bought in a ratty old San Francisco thrift store.
