One of the more weird descriptions on the social life in a suburban compound that is preparing for new year's eve. All characters are preparing in their way, confronted with problems like betrayal, alcoholism, drugs abuse, sexual preferences etc. What starts as pretty normal social interaction for some, and pretty disturbed situations for others soon deteriorates in a number of events leading to accidents due to the coming together of the different actors in this book.
Ammaniti is, as allways, a master in the detailed setting of the atmosphere and the, this time rather compact, details on each character including the lies and the excuses they use make it realistic until the unpredictible clash of events starts.
From that moment it becomes rather hilarious and unlikely but that can not stop the fun.
I think Ammaniti himself had a good laugh writing this book, the conservative citizens won't like it but i did. ( )
