In May 1941 the Bismarck broke out of the Baltic in a bid to threaten Britain's vital Atlantic convoys. Over the next week huge forces of the Royal Navy and RAF Coastal Command were devoted to finding, tracking and ultimately destroying the mighty German battleship.
